This computation multiplies the estimated a priori probabilities of independent messianic prophecies being fulfilled by chance in a single person. Each probability represents a conservative estimate of how likely the described event would occur without divine orchestration.
The methodology follows Peter Stoner's approach in "Science Speaks" (1958), which was reviewed by the American Scientific Affiliation. Key principles:
1. Conservative estimates: Each probability is deliberately set higher (more likely) than most scholars would estimate, to avoid overstating the case. 2. Independence requirement: Only statistically independent prophecies are multiplied. When multiple prophecies describe aspects of the same event (e.g., crucifixion details from Psalm 22), only the most conservative probability from that group is used. 3. Limitations: These are estimates, not measured probabilities. Scholars disagree on which Old Testament passages are messianic prophecies. The value of this exercise is the order of magnitude, not the precise number. 4. What this does NOT prove: Statistical improbability alone does not constitute proof. This analysis quantifies how remarkable the pattern of fulfillment is, inviting further investigation rather than demanding a conclusion.
Born in Bethlehem
But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, being small among the clans of Judah, out of you one will come out to me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings out are from of old, from ancient times.
Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of King Herod, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying,

Leaving Nazareth, he came and lived in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali,

Then there were two robbers crucified with him, one on his right hand and one on the left.
