Hebrew Text— 1 Chronicles 14:16David did as God commanded him; and they attacked the army of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gezer.

But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves.
This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it; for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success.
“Everyone therefore who hears these words of mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man, who built his house on a rock.
Blessed is the man who doesn’t walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand on the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers;
For whoever does the will of my Father who is in heaven, he is my brother, and sister, and mother.”
Simon answered him, “Master, we worked all night, and took nothing; but at your word I will let down the net.”
It shall happen, if you shall listen diligently to Yahweh your God’s voice, to observe to do all his commandments which I command you today, that Yahweh your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth.
Then Horam king of Gezer came up to help Lachish; and Joshua struck him and his people, until he had left him no one remaining.
Ephraim didn’t drive out the Canaanites who lived in Gezer, but the Canaanites lived in Gezer among them.
Again he said to me, “Prophesy over these bones, and tell them, ‘You dry bones, hear Yahweh’s word.
But he said, “On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God, and keep it.”
“I tell you, my friends, don’t be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.
Noah did everything that Yahweh commanded him.
Yahweh confused them before Israel. He killed them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and chased them by the way of the ascent of Beth Horon, and struck them to Azekah and to Makkedah.
Then Joshua spoke to Yahweh in the day when Yahweh delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel. He said in the sight of Israel, “Sun, stand still on Gibeon! You, moon, stop in the valley of Aijalon!”
They gave them Shechem with its pasture lands in the hill country of Ephraim, the city of refuge for the man slayer, and Gezer with its pasture lands,
David came to Baal Perazim, and David struck them there. Then he said, “Yahweh has broken my enemies before me, like the breach of waters.” Therefore he called the name of that place Baal Perazim.
Pharaoh king of Egypt had gone up, taken Gezer, burned it with fire, killed the Canaanites who lived in the city, and given it for a wedding gift to his daughter, Solomon’s wife.
So they came up to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there. David said, God has broken my enemies by my hand, like waters breaking out. Therefore they called the name of that place Baal Perazim.
For Ezra had set his heart to seek Yahweh’s law, and to do it, and to teach statutes and ordinances in Israel.
he who doesn’t lend out his money for usury, nor take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be shaken.
Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to Yahweh’s law.
For Yahweh will rise up as on Mount Perazim. He will be angry as in the valley of Gibeon; that he may do his work, his unusual work, and bring to pass his act, his extraordinary act.
therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvelous work among this people, even a marvelous work and a wonder; and the wisdom of their wise men will perish, and the understanding of their prudent men will be hidden.”
For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more a sacrifice for sins,
This is how we know that we know him: if we keep his commandments.
This is love, that we should walk according to his commandments. This is the commandment, even as you heard from the beginning, that you should walk in it.
went by pairs to Noah into the ship, male and female, as God commanded Noah.
Those who went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God commanded him; then Yahweh shut him in.

When the children of Israel had grown strong, they put the Canaanites to forced labor, and didn’t utterly drive them out.
David and his men went up and raided the Geshurites, the Girzites, and the Amalekites; for those were the inhabitants of the land, who were of old, on the way to Shur, even to the land of Egypt.
This is the reason of the levy which king Solomon raised, to build Yahweh’s house, his own house, Millo, Jerusalem’s wall, Hazor, Megiddo, and Gezer.
of their children who were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel didn’t consume, of them Solomon conscripted forced labor to this day.
Blessed is the man who does this, and the son of man who holds it fast; who keeps the Sabbath without profaning it and keeps his hand from doing any evil.”
Yahweh says, “Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, ‘Where is the good way?’ and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’
Yahweh said to me, “Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, ‘Hear the words of this covenant, and do them.
All that pass by clap their hands at you. They hiss and wag their head at the daughter of Jerusalem, saying, “Is this the city that men called ‘The perfection of beauty, the joy of the whole earth’?”
For he does not afflict willingly, nor grieve the children of men.
I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes. You will keep my ordinances and do them.
The disciples went, and did just as Jesus commanded them,
But he answered them, “My mother and my brothers are these who hear the word of God, and do it.”
He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” They cast it therefore, and now they weren’t able to draw it in for the multitude of fish.
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision amounts to anything, nor uncircumcision, but faith working through love.
But he who looks into the perfect law of freedom and continues, not being a hearer who forgets, but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in what he does.
For this is loving God, that we keep his commandments. His commandments are not grievous.
Thus Noah did. He did all that God commanded him.
Abraham took Ishmael his son, all who were born in his house, and all who were bought with his money: every male among the men of Abraham’s house, and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin in the same day, as God had said to him.
He spread the covering over the tent, and put the roof of the tabernacle above on it, as Yahweh commanded Moses.
He lit the lamps before Yahweh, as Yahweh commanded Moses.
and he burned incense of sweet spices on it, as Yahweh commanded Moses.
When they went into the Tent of Meeting, and when they came near to the altar, they washed, as Yahweh commanded Moses.
Whatever thing I command you, that you shall observe to do. You shall not add to it, nor take away from it.
It shall be, if it gives you answer of peace and opens to you, then it shall be that all the people who are found therein shall become forced laborers to you, and shall serve you.
They didn’t drive out the Canaanites who lived in Gezer; but the Canaanites dwell in the territory of Ephraim to this day, and have become servants to do forced labor.
She may not eat of anything that comes of the vine, neither let her drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing. Let her observe all that I commanded her.”
David did so, as Yahweh commanded him, and struck the Philistines all the way from Geba to Gezer.
The Philistines had war again with Israel; and David went down, and his servants with him, and fought against the Philistines. David grew faint;
They gave to them the cities of refuge, Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim with its pasture lands, and Gezer with its pasture lands,
Didn’t you, our God, drive out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel, and give it to the offspring of Abraham your friend forever?
There were also some who said, “We have borrowed money for the king’s tribute using our fields and our vineyards as collateral.
Moreover your servant is warned by them. In keeping them there is great reward.
They didn’t destroy the peoples, as Yahweh commanded them,
I have come into my garden, my sister, my bride. I have gathered my myrrh with my spice; I have eaten my honeycomb with my honey; I have drunk my wine with my milk. Eat, friends! Drink, yes, drink abundantly, beloved.
“But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the offspring of Abraham my friend,
The sun and moon stood still in the sky, at the light of your arrows as they went, at the shining of your glittering spear.
His mother said to the servants, “Whatever he says to you, do it.”
If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.
If you love me, keep my commandments.
You are my friends, if you do whatever I command you.
But rise up and enter into the city, then you will be told what you must do.”
And he went out and followed him. He didn’t know that what was being done by the angel was real, but thought he saw a vision.
Having been made perfect, he became to all of those who obey him the author of eternal salvation,
By faith, Abraham, when he was called, obeyed to go out to the place which he was to receive for an inheritance. He went out, not knowing where he went.
So the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him as righteousness,” and he was called the friend of God.
To him therefore who knows to do good, and doesn’t do it, to him it is sin.
