Hebrew Text— 1 Samuel 12:4They said, “You have not defrauded us, nor oppressed us, neither have you taken anything from anyone’s hand.”

that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without defect in the middle of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you are seen as lights in the world,
Moreover he must have good testimony from those who are outside, to avoid falling into reproach and the snare of the devil.
having good behavior among the nations, so in that of which they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they see, glorify God in the day of visitation.
having a good conscience. Thus, while you are spoken against as evildoers, they may be disappointed who curse your good way of life in Christ.
Then I saw all the labor and achievement that is the envy of a man’s neighbor. This also is vanity and a striving after wind.
This is the disciple who testifies about these things, and wrote these things. We know that his witness is true.
The men were afraid, because they were brought to Joseph’s house; and they said, “Because of the money that was returned in our sacks the first time, we’re brought in; that he may seek occasion against us, attack us, and seize us as slaves, along with our donkeys.”
But his father and his mother didn’t know that it was of Yahweh; for he sought an occasion against the Philistines. Now at that time the Philistines ruled over Israel.
A dishonest man detests the righteous, and the upright in their ways detest the wicked.
For I have heard the defaming of many, “Terror on every side! Denounce, and we will denounce him!” say all my familiar friends, those who watch for my fall. “Perhaps he will be persuaded, and we will prevail against him, and we will take our revenge on him.”
Therefore at that time certain Chaldeans came near, and brought accusation against the Jews.
For he knew that because of envy they had delivered him up.
They watched him and sent out spies, who pretended to be righteous, that they might trap him in something he said, so as to deliver him up to the power and authority of the governor.
He who has seen has testified, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, that you may believe.
and soundness of speech that can’t be condemned, that he who opposes you may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say about us.
No, my sons; for it is not a good report that I hear! You make Yahweh’s people disobey.
David behaved himself wisely in all his ways; and Yahweh was with him.
Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said, “Who among all your servants is so faithful as David, who is the king’s son-in-law, captain of your body guard, and honored in your house?
I put my brother Hanani, and Hananiah the governor of the fortress, in charge of Jerusalem; for he was a faithful man, and feared God above many.
They conspire and lurk, watching my steps. They are eager to take my life.
Then they said, “Come! Let’s devise plans against Jeremiah; for the law won’t perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let’s strike him with the tongue, and let’s not give heed to any of his words.”
Yet, Yahweh, you know all their counsel against me to kill me. Don’t forgive their iniquity. Don’t blot out their sin from your sight, Let them be overthrown before you. Deal with them in the time of your anger.
Then the presidents and the local governors sought to find occasion against Daniel as touching the kingdom; but they could find no occasion or fault, because he was faithful. There wasn’t any error or fault found in him.
They took counsel together that they might take Jesus by deceit, and kill him.
They watched him, whether he would heal him on the Sabbath day, that they might accuse him.
Now the chief priests and the whole council sought witnesses against Jesus to put him to death, and found none.
The chief priests and the scribes sought how they might put him to death, for they feared the people.
and said to them, “You brought this man to me as one that perverts the people, and behold, having examined him before you, I found no basis for a charge against this man concerning those things of which you accuse him.
Then Pilate went out again, and said to them, “Behold, I bring him out to you, that you may know that I find no basis for a charge against him.”
Therefore select from among you, brothers, seven men of good report, full of the Holy Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.
They said, “Cornelius, a centurion, a righteous man and one who fears God, and well spoken of by all the nation of the Jews, was directed by a holy angel to invite you to his house, and to listen to what you say.”
One Ananias, a devout man according to the law, well reported of by all the Jews who lived in Damascus,
by glory and dishonor, by evil report and good report; as deceivers, and yet true;
But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from those who desire an occasion, that in which they boast, they may be found even as we.
For from you the word of the Lord has been declared, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith toward God has gone out, so that we need not to say anything.
that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and may have need of nothing.
being approved by good works, if she has brought up children, if she has been hospitable to strangers, if she has washed the saints’ feet, if she has relieved the afflicted, and if she has diligently followed every good work.
I desire therefore that the younger widows marry, bear children, rule the household, and give no occasion to the adversary for insulting.
Through Silvanus, our faithful brother, as I consider him, I have written to you briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God in which you stand.
The testimony is this, that God gave to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
They have testified about your love before the assembly. You will do well to send them forward on their journey in a way worthy of God,
Demetrius has the testimony of all, and of the truth itself; yes, we also testify, and you know that our testimony is true.
who testified to God’s word and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, about everything that he saw.
In their mouth was found no lie, for they are blameless.
