Hebrew Text— 2 Chronicles 16:8Weren’t the Ethiopians and the Lubim a huge army, with chariots and exceedingly many horsemen? Yet, because you relied on Yahweh, he delivered them into your hand.

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

Being therefore justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ;
with twelve hundred chariots, and sixty thousand horsemen. The people were without number who came with him out of Egypt: the Lubim, the Sukkiim, and the Ethiopians.

“Don’t let your heart be troubled. Believe in God. Believe also in me.
The work of righteousness will be peace, and the effect of righteousness, quietness and confidence forever.
Yahweh’s word came to Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasha, saying,

to whom he said, “This is the resting place. Give rest to weary,” and “This is the refreshing;” yet they would not hear.
Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, and rely on horses, and trust in chariots because they are many, and in horsemen because they are very strong, but they don’t look to the Holy One of Israel, and they don’t seek Yahweh!
“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, like a hen gathers her own brood under her wings, and you refused!
Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, “Should you help the wicked, and love those who hate Yahweh? Because of this, wrath is on you from before Yahweh.
You will not need to fight this battle. Set yourselves, stand still, and see the salvation of Yahweh with you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Don’t be afraid, nor be dismayed. Go out against them tomorrow, for Yahweh is with you.’ ”
They rose early in the morning, and went out into the wilderness of Tekoa. As they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Listen to me, Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem! Believe in Yahweh your God, so you will be established! Believe his prophets, so you will prosper.”
Rest in Yahweh, and wait patiently for him. Don’t fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who makes wicked plots happen.
But whoever listens to me will dwell securely, and will be at ease, without fear of harm.”
Then the king was exceedingly glad, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no kind of harm was found on him, because he had trusted in his God.
He will be our peace when Assyria invades our land, and when he marches through our fortresses, then we will raise against him seven shepherds, and eight leaders of men.
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body, and be thankful.

When he gives quietness, who then can condemn? When he hides his face, who then can see him? He is over a nation or a man alike,
I laid myself down and slept. I awakened; for Yahweh sustains me.
When I am afraid, I will put my trust in you.
I have put my trust in God. I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?
The righteous shall be glad in Yahweh, and shall take refuge in him. All the upright in heart shall praise him!

Jonathan cried after the boy, “Go fast! Hurry! Don’t delay!” Jonathan’s boy gathered up the arrows, and came to his master.
David said in his heart, “I will now perish one day by the hand of Saul. There is nothing better for me than that I should escape into the land of the Philistines; and Saul will despair of me, to seek me any more in all the borders of Israel. So shall I escape out of his hand.”
While he was still talking with them, behold, the messenger came down to him. Then he said, “Behold, this evil is from Yahweh. Why should I wait for Yahweh any longer?”
Thus the children of Israel were brought under at that time, and the children of Judah prevailed, because they relied on Yahweh, the God of their fathers.
At that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said to him, “Because you have relied on the king of Syria, and have not relied on Yahweh your God, therefore the army of the king of Syria has escaped out of your hand.
An arm of flesh is with him, but Yahweh our God is with us to help us and to fight our battles.” The people rested themselves on the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.
Yahweh, my God, I take refuge in you. Save me from all those who pursue me, and deliver me,
In Yahweh, I take refuge. How can you say to my soul, “Flee as a bird to your mountain”?
Preserve me, God, for I take refuge in you.
My God, I have trusted in you. Don’t let me be shamed. Don’t let my enemies triumph over me.
But I trust in you, Yahweh. I said, “You are my God.”
But the humble shall inherit the land, and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
Turn us again, God of Armies. Cause your face to shine, and we will be saved.
Those who love your law have great peace. Nothing causes them to stumble.
Her ways are ways of pleasantness. All her paths are peace.
Free yourself, like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, like a bird from the snare of the fowler.
For a child is born to us. A son is given to us; and the government will be on his shoulders. His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
You will keep whoever’s mind is steadfast in perfect peace, because he trusts in you.
“I, Yahweh, have called you in righteousness. I will hold your hand. I will keep you, and make you a covenant for the people, as a light for the nations,
Who is blind, but my servant? Or who is as deaf as my messenger whom I send? Who is as blind as he who is at peace, and as blind as Yahweh’s servant?
Yahweh says, “I have answered you in an acceptable time. I have helped you in a day of salvation. I will preserve you and give you for a covenant of the people, to raise up the land, to make them inherit the desolate heritage,
All your children will be taught by Yahweh; and your children’s peace will be great.
For I will surely save you, and you won’t fall by the sword, but you will escape with your life; because you have put your trust in me,” says Yahweh.’ ”
“ ‘ “In that day messengers will go out from before me in ships to make the careless Ethiopians afraid. There will be anguish on them, as in the day of Egypt; for, behold, it comes.”
Then those who feared Yahweh spoke one with another; and Yahweh listened, and heard, and a book of memory was written before him, for those who feared Yahweh, and who honored his name.
But when he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, don’t be afraid to take to yourself Mary, your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.
not to be quickly shaken in your mind, and not be troubled, either by spirit, or by word, or by letter as if from us, saying that the day of Christ has already come.
