Greek Text— Acts 24:27But when two years were fulfilled, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus, and desiring to gain favor with the Jews, Felix left Paul in bonds.

But even as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the Good News, so we speak: not as pleasing men, but God, who tests our hearts.
But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men.
You adulterers and adulteresses, don’t you know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
Then Pashhur struck Jeremiah the prophet and put him in the stocks that were in the upper gate of Benjamin, which was in Yahweh’s house.
not in the way of service only when eyes are on you, as men pleasers, but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart,
but he is a Jew who is one inwardly, and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit not in the letter; whose praise is not from men, but from God.
“I tell you, my friends, don’t be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.
But Festus, desiring to gain favor with the Jews, answered Paul and said, “Are you willing to go up to Jerusalem, and be judged by me there concerning these things?”
Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God.
in labor and travail, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, and in cold and nakedness.
Give diligence to present yourself approved by God, a workman who doesn’t need to be ashamed, properly handling the Word of Truth.
Joseph’s master took him, and put him into the prison, the place where the king’s prisoners were bound, and he was there in custody.
“Because he has set his love on me, therefore I will deliver him. I will set him on high, because he has known my name.
It is better to take refuge in Yahweh, than to put confidence in man.
“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other; or else he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You can’t serve both God and Mammon.
They sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that you are honest, and teach the way of God in truth, no matter whom you teach, for you aren’t partial to anyone.
Then the commanding officer came near, arrested him, commanded him to be bound with two chains, and inquired who he was and what he had done.
When I was told that the Jews lay in wait for the man, I sent him to you immediately, charging his accusers also to bring their accusations against him before you. Farewell.”
As he stayed there many days, Festus laid Paul’s case before the king, saying, “There is a certain man left a prisoner by Felix;
Don’t love the world or the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the Father’s love isn’t in him.
You shall observe the feast of unleavened bread. Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, as I commanded you, at the time appointed in the month Abib (for in it you came out of Egypt), and no one shall appear before me empty.
You shall not pervert justice. You shall not show partiality. You shall not take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and perverts the words of the righteous.
He who heeds the Word finds prosperity. Whoever trusts in Yahweh is blessed.
Yahweh’s name is a strong tower: the righteous run to him, and are safe.
“Whom have you dreaded and feared, so that you lie, and have not remembered me, nor laid it to your heart? Haven’t I held my peace for a long time, and you don’t fear me?
Nebuchadnezzar spoke and said, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who has sent his angel, and delivered his servants who trusted in him, and have changed the king’s word, and have yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.
My God has sent his angel, and has shut the lions’ mouths, and they have not hurt me; because as before him innocence was found in me; and also before you, O king, I have done no harm.”
Therefore don’t be afraid of them, for there is nothing covered that will not be revealed; and hidden that will not be known.
At that time, Herod the tetrarch heard the report concerning Jesus,
and will hand him over to the Gentiles to mock, to scourge, and to crucify; and the third day he will be raised up.”
Then he released to them Barabbas, but Jesus he flogged and delivered to be crucified.
But when he came to himself he said, ‘How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough to spare, and I’m dying with hunger!
They watched him and sent out spies, who pretended to be righteous, that they might trap him in something he said, so as to deliver him up to the power and authority of the governor.
When he found out that he was in Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who was also in Jerusalem during those days.
So Pilate then took Jesus, and flogged him.
The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up, and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had determined to release him.
“For truly, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together against your holy servant, Jesus, whom you anointed,
For I will show him how many things he must suffer for my name’s sake.”
When he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to seize Peter also. This was during the days of unleavened bread.
We sailed away from Philippi after the days of Unleavened Bread, and came to them at Troas in five days, where we stayed seven days.
He asked them to provide animals, that they might set Paul on one, and bring him safely to Felix the governor.
Festus therefore, having come into the province, after three days went up to Jerusalem from Caesarea.
For if I have done wrong and have committed anything worthy of death, I don’t refuse to die; but if none of those things is true that they accuse me of, no one can give me up to them. I appeal to Caesar!”
I answered them that it is not the custom of the Romans to give up any man to destruction before the accused has met the accusers face to face and has had opportunity to make his defense concerning the matter laid against him.
who, when they had examined me, desired to set me free, because there was no cause of death in me.
Servants, obey in all things those who are your masters according to the flesh, not just when they are looking, as men pleasers, but in singleness of heart, fearing God.
They sent a message to Joseph, saying, “Your father commanded before he died, saying,
Saul said to Samuel, “I have sinned; for I have transgressed the commandment of Yahweh, and your words, because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice.
His soul will dwell at ease. His offspring will inherit the land.
Yahweh’s angel encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them.
Then the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium, and gathered the whole garrison together against him.
“Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem. The Son of Man will be delivered to the chief priests and the scribes. They will condemn him to death, and will deliver him to the Gentiles.
Pilate decreed that what they asked for should be done.
If anyone serves me, let him follow me. Where I am, there my servant will also be. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.
But Philip was found at Azotus. Passing through, he preached the Good News to all the cities, until he came to Caesarea.
When the governor had read it, he asked what province he was from. When he understood that he was from Cilicia, he said,
Being perplexed how to inquire concerning these things, I asked whether he was willing to go to Jerusalem and there be judged concerning these matters.
But when the Jews spoke against it, I was constrained to appeal to Caesar, not that I had anything about which to accuse my nation.
But before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, surrounded the house, both young and old, all the people from every quarter.
The men of the place asked him about his wife. He said, “She is my sister,” for he was afraid to say, “My wife”, lest, he thought, “the men of the place might kill me for Rebekah, because she is beautiful to look at.”
“ ‘You shall do no injustice in judgment. You shall not be partial to the poor, nor show favoritism to the great; but you shall judge your neighbor in righteousness.
You shall not deprive the foreigner or the fatherless of justice, nor take a widow’s clothing in pledge;
because I feared the great multitude, and the contempt of families terrified me, so that I kept silence, and didn’t go out of the door—
Behold, Yahweh’s eye is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his loving kindness,
In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them. In his love and in his pity he redeemed them. He bore them, and carried them all the days of old.
So they drew up Jeremiah with the cords, and took him up out of the dungeon; and Jeremiah remained in the court of the guard.
Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of King Herod, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying,
When King Herod heard it, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Arise and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and stay there until I tell you, for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.”
Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked by the wise men, was exceedingly angry, and sent out, and killed all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all the surrounding countryside, from two years old and under, according to the exact time which he had learned from the wise men.
Pilate, wishing to please the multitude, released Barabbas to them, and handed over Jesus, when he had flogged him, to be crucified.
Now in those days, a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be enrolled.
Nevertheless even many of the rulers believed in him, but because of the Pharisees they didn’t confess it, so that they wouldn’t be put out of the synagogue,
They led Jesus therefore from Caiaphas into the Praetorium. It was early, and they themselves didn’t enter into the Praetorium, that they might not be defiled, but might eat the Passover.
except that the Holy Spirit testifies in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions wait for me.
After five days, the high priest, Ananias, came down with certain elders and an orator, one Tertullus. They informed the governor against Paul.
When the governor had beckoned to him to speak, Paul answered, “Because I know that you have been a judge of this nation for many years, I cheerfully make my defense,
They ought to have been here before you, and to make accusation, if they had anything against me.
But Felix, having more exact knowledge concerning the Way, deferred them, saying, “When Lysias, the commanding officer, comes down, I will decide your case.”
Agrippa said to Festus, “This man might have been set free if he had not appealed to Caesar.”
the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptation and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment,
“You shall not follow a crowd to do evil. You shall not testify in court to side with a multitude to pervert justice.
The fear of man proves to be a snare, but whoever puts his trust in Yahweh is kept safe.
Then Zedekiah the king commanded, and they committed Jeremiah into the court of the guard. They gave him daily a loaf of bread out of the bakers’ street, until all the bread in the city was gone. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the guard.
Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. The king spoke and said to Daniel, “Your God whom you serve continually, he will deliver you.”
and they bound him, and led him away, and delivered him up to Pontius Pilate, the governor.
Now at the feast the governor was accustomed to release to the multitude one prisoner, whom they desired.
Now at the feast he used to release to them one prisoner, whom they asked of him.
Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene,
When Peter had come to himself, he said, “Now I truly know that the Lord has sent out his angel and delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from everything the Jewish people were expecting.”
Coming to us and taking Paul’s belt, he bound his own feet and hands, and said, “The Holy Spirit says: ‘So the Jews at Jerusalem will bind the man who owns this belt, and will deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.’ ”
“I will hear you fully when your accusers also arrive.” He commanded that he be kept in Herod’s palace.
However Festus answered that Paul should be kept in custody at Caesarea, and that he himself was about to depart shortly.
Paul stayed two whole years in his own rented house and received all who were coming to him,
in beatings, in imprisonments, in riots, in labors, in watchings, in fastings;
For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? For if I were still pleasing men, I wouldn’t be a servant of Christ.
Others were tried by mocking and scourging, yes, moreover by bonds and imprisonment.
