Hebrew Text— Daniel 11:25“He will stir up his power and his courage against the king of the south with a great army; and the king of the south will wage war in battle with an exceedingly great and mighty army; but he won’t stand; for they will devise plans against him.

One who is slow to anger is better than the mighty; one who rules his spirit, than he who takes a city.
So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger;
As coals are to hot embers, and wood to fire, so is a contentious man to kindling strife.
An angry man stirs up strife, and a wrathful man abounds in sin.
The liberal soul shall be made fat. He who waters shall be watered also himself.
The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger. It is his glory to overlook an offense.
You have indeed struck Edom, and your heart has lifted you up. Enjoy the glory of it, and stay at home; for why should you meddle to your harm, that you fall, even you, and Judah with you?’ ”
The soul of the sluggard desires, and has nothing, but the desire of the diligent shall be fully satisfied.
He who is quick to become angry will commit folly, and a crafty man is hated.
He who is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a quick temper displays folly.
A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
A perverse man stirs up strife. A whisperer separates close friends.
Better is the end of a thing than its beginning. The patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.
If the spirit of the ruler rises up against you, don’t leave your place; for gentleness lays great offenses to rest.
The sea has come up on Babylon. She is covered with the multitude of its waves.
“The vision of the evenings and mornings which has been told is true; but seal up the vision, for it belongs to many days to come.”
After the sixty-two weeks the Anointed One will be cut off, and will have nothing. The people of the prince who come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. Its end will be with a flood, and war will be even to the end. Desolations are determined.
In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed to Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, even a great warfare. He understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision.
“The king of the south will be strong. One of his princes will become stronger than him, and have dominion. His dominion will be a great dominion.
“But out of a shoot from her roots one will stand up in his place, who will come to the army, and will enter into the fortress of the king of the north, and will deal against them, and will prevail.
“The king of the south will be moved with anger, and will come out and fight with him, even with the king of the north. He will send out a great multitude, and the multitude will be given into his hand.
“In those times many will stand up against the king of the south. Also the children of the violent among your people will lift themselves up to establish the vision; but they will fall.
“At the time of the end the king of the south will contend with him; and the king of the north will come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, with horsemen, and with many ships. He will enter into the countries, and will overflow and pass through.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.
They stirred up the people, the elders, and the scribes, and came against him and seized him, then brought him in to the council,
But godliness with contentment is great gain.
Abram said to Lot, “Please, let there be no strife between you and me, and between your herdsmen and my herdsmen; for we are relatives.
You shall say, ‘Not only that, but behold, your servant, Jacob, is behind us.’ ” For, he said, “I will appease him with the present that goes before me, and afterward I will see his face. Perhaps he will accept me.”
The young men who had grown up with him said to him, “Tell these people who spoke to you, saying, ‘Your father made our yoke heavy, but make it lighter to us;’ tell them, ‘My little finger is thicker than my father’s waist.
The young men who had grown up with him spoke to him, saying, “Thus you shall tell the people who spoke to you, saying, ‘Your father made our yoke heavy, but make it lighter on us;’ thus you shall say to them, ‘My little finger is thicker than my father’s waist.
You say to yourself that you have struck Edom; and your heart lifts you up to boast. Now stay at home. Why should you meddle with trouble, that you should fall, even you, and Judah with you?’ ”
Yahweh of Armies, blessed is the man who trusts in you.
Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all wrongs.
Pride only breeds quarrels, but wisdom is with people who take advice.
The fool’s talk brings a rod to his back, but the lips of the wise protect them.
A wrathful man stirs up contention, but one who is slow to anger appeases strife.
The light of the eyes rejoices the heart. Good news gives health to the bones.
The proud and arrogant man—“Scoffer” is his name— he works in the arrogance of pride.
Drive out the mocker, and strife will go out; yes, quarrels and insults will stop.
To teach you truth, reliable words, to give sound answers to the ones who sent you?
By patience a ruler is persuaded. A soft tongue breaks the bone.
One who is greedy stirs up strife; but one who trusts in Yahweh will prosper.
The fear of man proves to be a snare, but whoever puts his trust in Yahweh is kept safe.
For as the churning of milk produces butter, and the wringing of the nose produces blood; so the forcing of wrath produces strife.”
now therefore, behold, the Lord brings upon them the mighty flood waters of the River: the king of Assyria and all his glory. It will come up over all its channels, and go over all its banks.
Howl, gate! Cry, city! You are melted away, Philistia, all of you; for smoke comes out of the north, and there is no straggler in his ranks.
He has brought the high fortress of your walls down, laid low, and brought to the ground, even to the dust.
When you cry, let those whom you have gathered deliver you; but the wind will take them. a breath will carry them all away: but he who takes refuge in me will possess the land, and will inherit my holy mountain.”
and Yahweh will guide you continually, satisfy your soul in dry places, and make your bones strong. You will be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water whose waters don’t fail.
“ ‘ “Javan, Tubal, and Meshech were your traders. They traded the persons of men and vessels of bronze for your merchandise.
“Behold, there was another animal, a second, like a bear. It was raised up on one side, and three ribs were in its mouth between its teeth. They said this to it: ‘Arise! Devour much flesh!’
I saw the ram pushing westward, northward, and southward. No animals could stand before him. There wasn’t any who could deliver out of his hand; but he did according to his will, and magnified himself.
He said, “Behold, I will make you know what will be in the latter time of the indignation; for it belongs to the appointed time of the end.
“Now I will show you the truth. Behold, three more kings will stand up in Persia; and the fourth will be far richer than all of them. When he has grown strong through his riches, he will stir up all against the realm of Greece.
His sons will wage war, and will assemble a multitude of great forces, which will come on, and overflow, and pass through. They will return and wage war, even to his fortress.
The overwhelming forces will be overwhelmed from before him, and will be broken. Yes, also the prince of the covenant.
After the treaty made with him he will work deceitfully; for he will come up, and will become strong, with a small people.
Yes, those who eat of his dainties will destroy him, and his army will be swept away. Many will fall down slain.
As for both these kings, their hearts will be to do mischief, and they will speak lies at one table; but it won’t prosper, for the end will still be at the appointed time.
“He will return at the appointed time, and come into the south; but it won’t be in the latter time as it was in the former.
Some of those who are wise will fall, to refine them, and to purify, and to make them white, even to the time of the end; because it is yet for the time appointed.
Surely the Lord Yahweh will do nothing, unless he reveals his secret to his servants the prophets.
But with an overflowing flood, he will make a full end of her place, and will pursue his enemies into darkness.
Yahweh says: “Though they be in full strength, and likewise many, even so they will be cut down, and he shall pass away. Though I have afflicted you, I will afflict you no more.
If he called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture can’t be broken),
But when the Jews of Thessalonica had knowledge that the word of God was proclaimed by Paul at Beroea also, they came there likewise, agitating the multitudes.
He made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the surface of the earth, having determined appointed seasons, and the boundaries of their dwellings,
but is under guardians and stewards until the day appointed by the father.
For the overseer must be blameless, as God’s steward, not self-pleasing, not easily angered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for dishonest gain;
He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” He said, “Write, for these words of God are faithful and true.”
