Deuteronomy 1:36
Hebrew Text— Deuteronomy 1:36except Caleb the son of Jephunneh. He shall see it. I will give the land that he has trodden on to him and to his children, because he has wholly followed Yahweh.”

Every place on which the sole of your foot treads shall be yours: from the wilderness and Lebanon, from the river, the river Euphrates, even to the western sea shall be your border.
He called the multitude to himself with his disciples, and said to them, “Whoever wants to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, who were of those who spied out the land, tore their clothes.
But Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh remained alive of those men who went to spy out the land.
Joshua blessed him; and he gave Hebron to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for an inheritance.
Judah went against the Canaanites who lived in Hebron. (The name of Hebron before that was Kiriath Arba.) They struck Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai.
But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and has followed me fully, him I will bring into the land into which he went. His offspring shall possess it.
surely you shall not come into the land concerning which I swore that I would make you dwell therein, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.
I have given you every place that the sole of your foot will tread on, as I told Moses.
Then the children of Judah came near to Joshua in Gilgal. Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, “You know the thing that Yahweh spoke to Moses the man of God concerning me and concerning you in Kadesh Barnea.
I was forty years old when Moses the servant of Yahweh sent me from Kadesh Barnea to spy out the land. I brought him word again as it was in my heart.
Moses swore on that day, saying, ‘Surely the land where you walked shall be an inheritance to you and to your children forever, because you have wholly followed Yahweh my God.’
Caleb drove out the three sons of Anak: Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai, the children of Anak.
but you shall not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil; for in the day that you eat of it, you will surely die.”
They went up by the South, and came to Hebron; and Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of Anak, were there. (Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)
I, Yahweh, have spoken. I will surely do this to all this evil congregation who are gathered together against me. In this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.”
Where are we going up? Our brothers have made our heart melt, saying, ‘The people are greater and taller than we. The cities are great and fortified up to the sky. Moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakim there!’ ”
Nevertheless, my brothers who went up with me made the heart of the people melt; but I wholly followed Yahweh my God.
They gave Hebron to Caleb, as Moses had said, and he drove the three sons of Anak out of there.
They said, “Arise, and let’s go up against them; for we have seen the land, and behold, it is very good. Do you stand still? Don’t be slothful to go and to enter in to possess the land.
The sons of Caleb the son of Jephunneh: Iru, Elah, and Naam. The son of Elah: Kenaz.
When I tell the wicked, ‘You will surely die;’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; that wicked man will die in his iniquity; but I will require his blood at your hand.
If anyone serves me, let him follow me. Where I am, there my servant will also be. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.
For who, when they heard, rebelled? Wasn’t it all those who came out of Egypt led by Moses?
She conceived again, and bore a son. She said, “This time I will praise Yahweh.” Therefore she named him Judah. Then she stopped bearing.
The children of Israel traveled from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot who were men, in addition to children.
Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh.
However, the people who dwell in the land are strong, and the cities are fortified and very large. Moreover, we saw the children of Anak there.
Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, “Let’s go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it!”
But the men who went up with him said, “We aren’t able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.”
For Yahweh had said of them, “They shall surely die in the wilderness.” There was not a man left of them, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.
except Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, and Joshua the son of Nun, because they have followed Yahweh completely.’
These are the names of the men: Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh.
Joshua the son of Nun, who stands before you, shall go in there. Encourage him, for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.
You shall love Yahweh your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your might.
Joshua came at that time, and cut off the Anakim from the hill country, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the hill country of Judah, and from all the hill country of Israel: Joshua utterly destroyed them with their cities.
Now therefore give me this hill country, of which Yahweh spoke in that day; for you heard in that day how the Anakim were there, and great and fortified cities. It may be that Yahweh will be with me, and I shall drive them out, as Yahweh said.”
Therefore Hebron became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite to this day, because he followed Yahweh, the God of Israel wholeheartedly.
Now therefore Yahweh says, “You will not come down from the bed where you have gone up, but you will surely die.” ’ ” Then Elijah departed.
Then the people rejoiced, because they offered willingly, because with a perfect heart they offered willingly to Yahweh; and David the king also rejoiced with great joy.
Yahweh, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel, our fathers, keep this desire forever in the thoughts of the heart of your people, and prepare their heart for you;
He did that which was right in Yahweh’s eyes, but not with a perfect heart.
Through God we will do valiantly, for it is he who will tread down our adversaries.
Let my heart be blameless toward your decrees, that I may not be disappointed.
I have called with my whole heart. Answer me, Yahweh! I will keep your statutes.
My son, give me your heart; and let your eyes keep in my ways.
Though they bring up their children, yet I will bereave them, so that not a man shall be left. Indeed, woe also to them when I depart from them!
Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness and they died.
Now he said this, signifying by what kind of death he would glorify God. When he had said this, he said to him, “Follow me.”
who, when he had come, and had seen the grace of God, was glad. He exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they should remain near to the Lord.
What then shall we say about these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
not in the way of service only when eyes are on you, as men pleasers, but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart,
I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.
And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men,
who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked out righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
These are those who were not defiled with women, for they are virgins. These are those who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. These were redeemed by Jesus from among men, the first fruits to God and to the Lamb.
