Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls.
Now on the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink!
Stand firm therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and don’t be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.
Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.”
All those whom the Father gives me will come to me. He who comes to me I will in no way throw out.
For my hand has made all these things, and so all these things came to be,” says Yahweh: “but I will look to this man, even to he who is poor and of a contrite spirit, and who trembles at my word.
Cast your burden on Yahweh and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved.
A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, but the wealth of the sinner is stored for the righteous.
For they bind heavy burdens that are grievous to be borne, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not lift a finger to help them.
For with you is the spring of life. In your light we will see light.
but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never thirst again; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”
The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” He who hears, let him say, “Come!” He who is thirsty, let him come. He who desires, let him take the water of life freely.
All his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him, but he refused to be comforted. He said, “For I will go down to Sheol to my son, mourning.” His father wept for him.
If you take this one also from me, and harm happens to him, you will bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to Sheol.’
For my iniquities have gone over my head. As a heavy burden, they are too heavy for me.
Return to your rest, my soul, for Yahweh has dealt bountifully with you.
and to give relief to you who are afflicted with us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire,
“Vanity of vanities,” says the Preacher; “Vanity of vanities, all is vanity.”
What does man gain from all his labor in which he labors under the sun?
Then I looked at all the works that my hands had worked, and at the labor that I had labored to do; and behold, all was vanity and a chasing after wind, and there was no profit under the sun.
So I hated life, because the work that is worked under the sun was grievous to me; for all is vanity and a chasing after wind.
I hated all my labor in which I labored under the sun, because I must leave it to the man who comes after me.
If a man fathers a hundred children, and lives many years, so that the days of his years are many, but his soul is not filled with good, and moreover he has no burial; I say, that a stillborn child is better than he:
The Lord Yahweh has given me the tongue of those who are taught, that I may know how to sustain with words him who is weary. He awakens morning by morning, he awakens my ear to hear as those who are taught.
Yahweh says, “Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, ‘Where is the good way?’ and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’
Yahweh, the hope of Israel, all who forsake you will be disappointed. Those who depart from me will be written in the earth, because they have forsaken Yahweh, the spring of living waters.
He brought me back to the door of the house; and behold, waters flowed out from under the threshold of the house eastward, for the front of the house faced toward the east. The waters came down from underneath, from the right side of the house, on the south of the altar.
Those who regard lying vanities forsake their own mercy.
“But God said to him, ‘You foolish one, tonight your soul is required of you. The things which you have prepared—whose will they be?’
Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full.
Let’s fear therefore, lest perhaps anyone of you should seem to have come short of a promise of entering into his rest.
He recognized it, and said, “It is my son’s tunic. An evil animal has devoured him. Joseph is without doubt torn in pieces.”
But Jacob didn’t send Benjamin, Joseph’s brother, with his brothers; for he said, “Lest perhaps harm happen to him.”
Yet you have forsaken me and served other gods. Therefore I will save you no more.
But there is a spirit in man, and the Spirit of the Almighty gives them understanding.
My days are like a long shadow. I have withered like grass.
All things are full of weariness beyond uttering. The eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing.
All his days he also eats in darkness, he is frustrated, and has sickness and wrath.
Therefore with joy you will draw water out of the wells of salvation.
to whom he said, “This is the resting place. Give rest to weary,” and “This is the refreshing;” yet they would not hear.
Why do you spend money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which doesn’t satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in richness.
to provide for those who mourn in Zion, to give to them a garland for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness, that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of Yahweh, that he may be glorified.
those who have turned back from following Yahweh, and those who haven’t sought Yahweh nor inquired after him.
“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.
Beware, brothers, lest perhaps there might be in any one of you an evil heart of unbelief, in falling away from the living God;
He showed me a river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb,
Jacob heard Laban’s sons’ words, saying, “Jacob has taken away all that was our father’s. He has obtained all this wealth from that which was our father’s.”
They said, “We, your servants, are twelve brothers, the sons of one man in the land of Canaan; and behold, the youngest is today with our father, and one is no more.”
When the virgins were gathered together the second time, Mordecai was sitting in the king’s gate.
On that day, King Ahasuerus gave the house of Haman, the Jews’ enemy, to Esther the queen. Mordecai came before the king; for Esther had told what he was to her.
(For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days on earth are a shadow.)
But now, God, you have surely worn me out. You have made all my company desolate.
he may prepare it, but the just will put it on, and the innocent will divide the silver.
Who has put wisdom in the inward parts? Or who has given understanding to the mind?
In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety.
For he sees that wise men die; likewise the fool and the senseless perish, and leave their wealth to others.
I fade away like an evening shadow. I am shaken off like a locust.
When you lie down, you will not be afraid. Yes, you will lie down, and your sleep will be sweet.
He who increases his wealth by excessive interest gathers it for one who has pity on the poor.
For to the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge, and joy; but to the sinner he gives travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him who pleases God. This also is vanity and a chasing after wind.
There was no end of all the people, even of all them over whom he was—yet those who come after shall not rejoice in him. Surely this also is vanity and a chasing after wind.
If you see the oppression of the poor, and the violent taking away of justice and righteousness in a district, don’t marvel at the matter, for one official is eyed by a higher one, and there are officials over them.
He who loves silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he who loves abundance, with increase: this also is vanity.
The sleep of a laboring man is sweet, whether he eats little or much; but the abundance of the rich will not allow him to sleep.
For what advantage has the wise more than the fool? What has the poor man, that knows how to walk before the living?
Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come, and the years draw near, when you will say, “I have no pleasure in them;”
Ah sinful nation, a people loaded with iniquity, offspring of evildoers, children who deal corruptly! They have forsaken Yahweh. They have despised the Holy One of Israel. They are estranged and backward.
It will happen in that day that the nations will seek the root of Jesse, who stands as a banner of the peoples; and his resting place will be glorious.
He won’t break a bruised reed. He won’t quench a dimly burning wick. He will faithfully bring justice.
For my people have forgotten me. They have burned incense to false gods. They have been made to stumble in their ways, in the ancient paths, to walk in byways, in a way not built up,
Then the presidents and the local governors sought to find occasion against Daniel as touching the kingdom; but they could find no occasion or fault, because he was faithful. There wasn’t any error or fault found in him.
and those who use the world, as not using it to the fullest. For the mode of this world passes away.
Having therefore these promises, beloved, let’s cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
Flee from youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
Wherein you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved in various trials,
He said to me, “I have become the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give freely to him who is thirsty from the spring of the water of life.
Now therefore don’t hold him guiltless, for you are a wise man; and you will know what you ought to do to him, and you shall bring his gray head down to Sheol with blood.”
I have seen the burden which God has given to the sons of men to be afflicted with.
Therefore I praised the dead who have been long dead more than the living who are yet alive.
Then I saw all the labor and achievement that is the envy of a man’s neighbor. This also is vanity and a striving after wind.
Better is the sight of the eyes than the wandering of the desire. This also is vanity and a chasing after wind.
I find more bitter than death the woman whose heart is snares and traps, whose hands are chains. Whoever pleases God shall escape from her; but the sinner will be ensnared by her.
If then you aren’t able to do even the least things, why are you anxious about the rest?
remembering without ceasing your work of faith and labor of love and perseverance of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, before our God and Father.
He said, “My son shall not go down with you; for his brother is dead, and he only is left. If harm happens to him along the way in which you go, then you will bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to Sheol.”
Yet all this avails me nothing, so long as I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king’s gate.”
so am I made to possess months of misery, wearisome nights are appointed to me.
“Surely every man walks like a shadow. Surely they busy themselves in vain. He heaps up, and doesn’t know who shall gather.
It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil, for he gives sleep to his loved ones.
Man is like a breath. His days are like a shadow that passes away.
Then I said in my heart, “As it happens to the fool, so will it happen even to me; and why was I then more wise?” Then I said in my heart that this also is vanity.
Yes, better than them both is him who has not yet been, who has not seen the evil work that is done under the sun.
All this I have seen, and applied my mind to every work that is done under the sun. There is a time in which one man has power over another to his hurt.
Therefore remove sorrow from your heart, and put away evil from your flesh; for youth and the dawn of life are vanity.
“Vanity of vanities,” says the Preacher. “All is vanity!”
“For my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the spring of living waters, and cut out cisterns for themselves: broken cisterns that can’t hold water.
