Hebrew Text— Genesis 24:67Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah’s tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife. He loved her. So Isaac was comforted after his mother’s death.

You husbands, in the same way, live with your wives according to knowledge, giving honor to the woman, as to the weaker vessel, as also being joint heirs of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.
House and riches are an inheritance from fathers, but a prudent wife is from Yahweh.
Even so husbands also ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself.
A worthy woman is the crown of her husband, but a disgraceful wife is as rottenness in his bones.
Who can find a worthy woman? For her price is far above rubies.
Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh.
Walk in love, even as Christ also loved us and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling fragrance.
Rebekah had a brother, and his name was Laban. Laban ran out to the man, to the spring.
Live joyfully with the wife whom you love all the days of your life of vanity, which he has given you under the sun, all your days of vanity, for that is your portion in life, and in your labor in which you labor under the sun.
I had scarcely passed from them, when I found him whom my soul loves. I held him, and would not let him go, until I had brought him into my mother’s house, into the room of her who conceived me.
Before he had finished speaking, behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel the son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham’s brother, with her pitcher on her shoulder.
Jacob told Rachel that he was her father’s relative, and that he was Rebekah’s son. She ran and told her father.
I am in pain and bowed down greatly. I go mourning all day long.
In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord. My hand was stretched out in the night, and didn’t get tired. My soul refused to be comforted.
For whoever finds me, finds life, and will obtain favor from Yahweh.
Jacob fled into the country of Aram, and Israel served to get a wife, and for a wife he tended flocks and herds.
who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us out of this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father—
that you were at that time separate from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of the promise, having no hope and without God in the world.
and saying, “Where is the promise of his coming? For, from the day that the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.”
Arise, go to Paddan Aram, to the house of Bethuel your mother’s father. Take a wife from there from the daughters of Laban, your mother’s brother.
Jacob came in peace to the city of Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, when he came from Paddan Aram; and encamped before the city.
it will happen, when he sees that the boy is no more, that he will die. Your servants will bring down the gray hairs of your servant, our father, with sorrow to Sheol.
and the border turned about from Baalah westward to Mount Seir, and passed along to the side of Mount Jearim (also called Chesalon) on the north, and went down to Beth Shemesh, and passed along by Timnah;
But now he is dead, why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I will go to him, but he will not return to me.”
So Amnon lay down and faked being sick. When the king came to see him, Amnon said to the king, “Please let my sister Tamar come, and make me a couple of cakes in my sight, that I may eat from her hand.”
Now Joab the son of Zeruiah perceived that the king’s heart was toward Absalom.
Whoever finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of Yahweh.
Yahweh says: “A voice is heard in Ramah, lamentation and bitter weeping, Rachel weeping for her children. She refuses to be comforted for her children, because they are no more.”
knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus, and will present us with you.
Nevertheless each of you must also love his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.
then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air. So we will be with the Lord forever.
By faith, he lived as an alien in the land of promise, as in a land not his own, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise.
Yahweh God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make him a helper comparable to him.”
They asked him, “Where is Sarah, your wife?” He said, “There, in the tent.”
She said to him, “I am the daughter of Bethuel the son of Milcah, whom she bore to Nahor.”
I bowed my head, and worshiped Yahweh, and blessed Yahweh, the God of my master Abraham, who had led me in the right way to take my master’s brother’s daughter for his son.
He went in also to Rachel, and he loved also Rachel more than Leah, and served with him seven more years.
These twenty years I have been in your house. I served you fourteen years for your two daughters, and six years for your flock, and you have changed my wages ten times.
All his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him, but he refused to be comforted. He said, “For I will go down to Sheol to my son, mourning.” His father wept for him.
After many days, Shua’s daughter, the wife of Judah, died. Judah was comforted, and went up to his sheep shearers to Timnah, he and his friend Hirah, the Adullamite.
He said, “My son shall not go down with you; for his brother is dead, and he only is left. If harm happens to him along the way in which you go, then you will bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to Sheol.”
They told him, saying, “Joseph is still alive, and he is ruler over all the land of Egypt.” His heart fainted, for he didn’t believe them.

Samson went down to Timnah, and saw a woman in Timnah of the daughters of the Philistines.
Moreover, Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, I have purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead on his inheritance, that the name of the dead may not be cut off from among his brothers and from the gate of his place. You are witnesses today.”
The elders of his house arose beside him, to raise him up from the earth: but he would not, and he didn’t eat bread with them.
King David longed to go out to Absalom; for he was comforted concerning Amnon, since he was dead.
Behold, a man of God came out of Judah by Yahweh’s word to Bethel; and Jeroboam was standing by the altar to burn incense.
For it was said to me by Yahweh’s word, ‘You shall eat no bread or drink water there, and don’t turn again to go by the way that you came.’ ”
a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace.
Let’s go early up to the vineyards. Let’s see whether the vine has budded, its blossom is open, and the pomegranates are in flower. There I will give you my love.
Then he said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold, they say, ‘Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost. We are completely cut off.’
Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
He spoke another parable to them. “The Kingdom of Heaven is like yeast, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, until it was all leavened.”
even as the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
He kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, “Lord, don’t hold this sin against them!” When he had said this, he fell asleep.
Peter got up and went with them. When he had come, they brought him into the upper room. All the widows stood by him weeping, and showing the coats and garments which Dorcas had made while she was with them.
Now I don’t desire to have you unaware, brothers, that I often planned to come to you, and was hindered so far, that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among the rest of the Gentiles.
But, because of sexual immoralities, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband.
Now concerning spiritual things, brothers, I don’t want you to be ignorant.
bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things.
I will most gladly spend and be spent for your souls. If I love you more abundantly, am I loved the less?
I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. That life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me.
But the Jerusalem that is above is free, which is the mother of us all.
Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice.
remembering without ceasing your work of faith and labor of love and perseverance of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, before our God and Father.
Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace,
and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us, and washed us from our sins by his blood—
Abraham hurried into the tent to Sarah, and said, “Quickly prepare three seahs of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes.”
Bethuel became the father of Rebekah. These eight Milcah bore to Nahor, Abraham’s brother.
The young lady ran, and told her mother’s house about these words.
They blessed Rebekah, and said to her, “Our sister, may you be the mother of thousands of ten thousands, and let your offspring possess the gate of those who hate them.”
Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Paddan Aram, the sister of Laban the Syrian, to be his wife.
Jacob loved Rachel. He said, “I will serve you seven years for Rachel, your younger daughter.”
Jacob served seven years for Rachel. They seemed to him but a few days, for the love he had for her.
and he took away all his livestock, and all his possessions which he had gathered, including the livestock which he had gained in Paddan Aram, to go to Isaac his father, to the land of Canaan.
Laban went into Jacob’s tent, into Leah’s tent, and into the tent of the two female servants; but he didn’t find them. He went out of Leah’s tent, and entered into Rachel’s tent.
If a man has two wives, the one beloved and the other hated, and they have borne him children, both the beloved and the hated, and if the firstborn son is hers who was hated,
I behaved myself as though it had been my friend or my brother. I bowed down mourning, as one who mourns his mother.
I would lead you, bringing you into the house of my mother, who would instruct me. I would have you drink spiced wine, of the juice of my pomegranate.
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it;
Husbands, love your wives, and don’t be bitter against them.
But we don’t want you to be ignorant, brothers, concerning those who have fallen asleep, so that you don’t grieve like the rest, who have no hope.
For this we tell you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will in no way precede those who have fallen asleep.
