Hebrew Text— Isaiah 26:16Yahweh, in trouble they have visited you. They poured out a prayer when your chastening was on them.

Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding.
We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose.
“I tell you, keep asking, and it will be given you. Keep seeking, and you will find. Keep knocking, and it will be opened to you.
Then they cry to Yahweh in their trouble, and he brings them out of their distress.
You shall call on me, and you shall go and pray to me, and I will listen to you.
Cast your burden on Yahweh and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved.
In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, and flame will not scorch you.
for whom the Lord loves, he disciplines, and chastises every son whom he receives.”
“Therefore Yahweh, the God of Israel, says, ‘I said indeed that your house and the house of your father should walk before me forever.’ But now Yahweh says, ‘Far be it from me; for those who honor me I will honor, and those who despise me will be cursed.
Remember therefore from where you have fallen, and repent and do the first works; or else I am coming to you swiftly, and will move your lamp stand out of its place, unless you repent.
You shall consider in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so Yahweh your God disciplines you.
In the shelter of your presence you will hide them from the plotting of man. You will keep them secretly in a dwelling away from the strife of tongues.
He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay. He set my feet on a rock, and gave me a firm place to stand.
You called in trouble, and I delivered you. I answered you in the secret place of thunder. I tested you at the waters of Meribah.”
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
There will be a pavilion for a shade in the daytime from the heat, and for a refuge and for a shelter from storm and from rain.
With my soul I have desired you in the night. Yes, with my spirit within me I will seek you earnestly; for when your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.
It will happen that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.
I will bring the third part into the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will test them like gold is tested. They will call on my name, and I will hear them. I will say, ‘It is my people;’ and they will say, ‘Yahweh is my God.’ ”
Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God.
Then the king arose, and tore his garments, and lay on the earth; and all his servants stood by with their clothes torn.
“But as for me, I would seek God. I would commit my cause to God,
Yahweh, you have heard the desire of the humble. You will prepare their heart. You will cause your ear to hear,
In my distress I called on Yahweh, and cried to my God. He heard my voice out of his temple. My cry before him came into his ears.
You who fear Yahweh, praise him! All you descendants of Jacob, glorify him! Stand in awe of him, all you descendants of Israel!
Trust in Yahweh, and do good. Dwell in the land, and enjoy safe pasture.
Then they cry to Yahweh in their trouble, he saves them out of their distresses.
Israel, trust in Yahweh! He is their help and their shield.
Though I walk in the middle of trouble, you will revive me. You will stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies. Your right hand will save me.
Yahweh is near to all those who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.
Trust in Yahweh forever; for in Yah, Yahweh, is an everlasting Rock.
Then you will call, and Yahweh will answer. You will cry for help, and he will say, ‘Here I am.’ “If you take away from among you the yoke, finger pointing, and speaking wickedly;
But Yahweh of Armies, who tests the righteous, who sees the heart and the mind, let me see your vengeance on them, for I have revealed my cause to you.
You shall seek me, and find me, when you search for me with all your heart.
‘Call to me, and I will answer you, and will show you great and difficult things, which you don’t know.’
They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.
Yahweh, I cry to you, For the fire has devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame has burned all the trees of the field.
If anyone serves me, let him follow me. Where I am, there my servant will also be. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.
Every branch in me that doesn’t bear fruit, he takes away. Every branch that bears fruit, he prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
But when we are judged, we are punished by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.
All his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him, but he refused to be comforted. He said, “For I will go down to Sheol to my son, mourning.” His father wept for him.
You will make your prayer to him, and he will hear you. You will pay your vows.
He prays to God, and he is favorable to him, so that he sees his face with joy. He restores to man his righteousness.
Yahweh is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower.
We took sweet fellowship together. We walked in God’s house with company.
Trust in him at all times, you people. Pour out your heart before him. God is a refuge for us.
When he killed them, then they inquired after him. They returned and sought God earnestly.
They have gone up to Bayith, and to Dibon, to the high places, to weep. Moab wails over Nebo and over Medeba. Baldness is on all of their heads. Every beard is cut off.
It shall be said in that day, “Behold, this is our God! We have waited for him, and he will save us! This is Yahweh! We have waited for him. We will be glad and rejoice in his salvation!”
You will have a song, as in the night when a holy feast is kept, and gladness of heart, as when one goes with a flute to come to Yahweh’s mountain, to Israel’s Rock.
who tell wood, ‘You are my father,’ and a stone, ‘You have given birth to me,’ for they have turned their back to me, and not their face; but in the time of their trouble they will say, ‘Arise, and save us!’
We have heard its report. Our hands become feeble. Anguish has taken hold of us, and pains as of a woman in labor.
The prince shall go in with them when they go in. When they go out, he shall go out.
I will go and return to my place, until they acknowledge their offense, and seek my face. In their affliction they will seek me earnestly.”
The sorrows of a travailing woman will come on him. He is an unwise son; for when it is time, he doesn’t come to the opening of the womb.
But the Lord stood by me and strengthened me, that through me the message might be fully proclaimed, and that all the Gentiles might hear. So I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
He, in the days of his flesh, having offered up prayers and petitions with strong crying and tears to him who was able to save him from death, and having been heard for his godly fear,
Is any among you suffering? Let him pray. Is any cheerful? Let him sing praises.
In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord. My hand was stretched out in the night, and didn’t get tired. My soul refused to be comforted.
David therefore begged God for the child; and David fasted, and went in, and lay all night on the ground.
In the day of my trouble I will call on you, for you will answer me.
Now therefore please forgive my sin again, and pray to Yahweh your God, that he may also take away from me this death.”
When Pharaoh came near, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians were marching after them; and they were very afraid. The children of Israel cried out to Yahweh.
The land also will be left by them, and will enjoy its Sabbaths while it lies desolate without them; and they will accept the punishment of their iniquity because they rejected my ordinances, and their soul abhorred my statutes.
Moses told these words to all the children of Israel, and the people mourned greatly.
Israel was brought very low because of Midian; and the children of Israel cried to Yahweh.
Hannah answered, “No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit. I have not been drinking wine or strong drink, but I poured out my soul before Yahweh.
They cried to Yahweh, and said, ‘We have sinned, because we have forsaken Yahweh, and have served the Baals and the Ashtaroth: but now deliver us out of the hand of our enemies, and we will serve you.’
All the people said to Samuel, “Pray for your servants to Yahweh your God, that we not die; for we have added to all our sins this evil, to ask for a king.”
For in the day of trouble, he will keep me secretly in his pavilion. In the secret place of his tabernacle, he will hide me. He will lift me up on a rock.
These things I remember, and pour out my soul within me, how I used to go with the crowd, and led them to God’s house, with the voice of joy and praise, a multitude keeping a holy day.
Call on me in the day of trouble. I will deliver you, and you will honor me.”
He will call on me, and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him, and honor him.
I pour out my complaint before him. I tell him my troubles.
It will happen that when Moab presents himself, when he wearies himself on the high place, and comes to his sanctuary to pray, that he will not prevail.
Yahweh, be gracious to us. We have waited for you. Be our strength every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble.
They said to him, “Hezekiah says, ‘Today is a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and of rejection; for the children have come to the birth, and there is no strength to give birth.
Inhabitant of Lebanon, who makes your nest in the cedars, how greatly to be pitied you will be when pangs come on you, the pain as of a woman in travail!
Arise, cry out in the night, at the beginning of the watches! Pour out your heart like water before the face of the Lord. Lift up your hands toward him for the life of your young children, who faint for hunger at the head of every street.
They haven’t cried to me with their heart, but they howl on their beds. They assemble themselves for grain and new wine. They turn away from me.
Therefore they cried to Yahweh, and said, “We beg you, Yahweh, we beg you, don’t let us die for this man’s life, and don’t lay on us innocent blood; for you, Yahweh, have done as it pleased you.”
Then Jonah prayed to Yahweh, his God, out of the fish’s belly.
But they will sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and no one will make them afraid: For the mouth of Yahweh of Armies has spoken.
with all prayer and requests, praying at all times in the Spirit, and being watchful to this end in all perseverance and requests for all the saints:
As many as I love, I reprove and chasten. Be zealous therefore, and repent.
Jehoahaz begged Yahweh, and Yahweh listened to him; for he saw the oppression of Israel, how the king of Syria oppressed them.
They don’t consider in their hearts that I remember all their wickedness. Now their own deeds have engulfed them. They are before my face.
