For you were going astray like sheep; but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
But God commends his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly.
Because Christ also suffered for sins once, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring you to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the Spirit,
I have gone astray like a lost sheep. Seek your servant, for I don’t forget your commandments.
He said, “You cannot see my face, for man may not see me and live.”
Then David the king went in, and sat before Yahweh; and he said, “Who am I, Lord Yahweh, and what is my house, that you have brought me this far?
My people have been lost sheep. Their shepherds have caused them to go astray. They have turned them away on the mountains. They have gone from mountain to hill. They have forgotten their resting place.
When Jesus heard it, he said to them, “Those who are healthy have no need for a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”

Yahweh, your hand is lifted up, yet they don’t see; but they will see your zeal for the people, and be disappointed. Yes, fire will consume your adversaries.
Therefore now, Yahweh, take, I beg you, my life from me; for it is better for me to die than to live.”
Be silent at the presence of the Lord Yahweh, for the day of Yahweh is at hand. For Yahweh has prepared a sacrifice. He has consecrated his guests.
let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.
He said, “Blessed be Yahweh, the God of my master Abraham, who has not forsaken his loving kindness and his truth toward my master. As for me, Yahweh has led me on the way to the house of my master’s relatives.”
Moses said before Yahweh, “Behold, I am of uncircumcised lips, and how shall Pharaoh listen to me?”
If you treat me this way, please kill me right now, if I have found favor in your sight; and don’t let me see my wretchedness.”
Micah said to him, “Dwell with me, and be to me a father and a priest, and I will give you ten pieces of silver per year, a suit of clothing, and your food.” So the Levite went in.
But a prophet of Yahweh was there, whose name was Oded; and he went out to meet the army that came to Samaria, and said to them, “Behold, because Yahweh, the God of your fathers, was angry with Judah, he has delivered them into your hand, and you have slain them in a rage which has reached up to heaven.
But he said to her, “You speak as one of the foolish women would speak. What? Shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil?” In all this Job didn’t sin with his lips.
“My soul is weary of my life. I will give free course to my complaint. I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.
Look at me, and be astonished. Lay your hand on your mouth.
Yahweh is in his holy temple. Yahweh is on his throne in heaven. His eyes observe. His eyes examine the children of men.
Yahweh is Gracious and righteous. Yes, our God is merciful.
If you, Yah, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand?
“Keep silent before me, islands, and let the peoples renew their strength. Let them come near, then let them speak. Let’s meet together for judgment.
Yes, the dogs are greedy. They can never have enough. They are shepherds who can’t understand. They have all turned to their own way, each one to his gain, from every quarter.
Therefore Yahweh has watched over the evil, and brought it on us; for Yahweh our God is righteous in all his works which he does, and we have not obeyed his voice.
When the sun arose, God prepared a sultry east wind; and the sun beat on Jonah’s head, so that he fainted, and requested for himself that he might die, and said, “It is better for me to die than to live.”
But you go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,’ for I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
even as the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
“Which of you men, if you had one hundred sheep, and lost one of them, wouldn’t leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one that was lost, until he found it?
But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become God’s children, to those who believe in his name:
If anyone listens to my sayings, and doesn’t believe, I don’t judge him. For I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
For I am the least of the apostles, who is not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the assembly of God.
To me, the very least of all saints, was this grace given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,
This is a faithful saying: someone who seeks to be an overseer desires a good work.
This saying is faithful and worthy of all acceptance.
This saying is trustworthy: “For if we died with him, we will also live with him.
This saying is faithful, and concerning these things I desire that you affirm confidently, so that those who have believed God may be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men;
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
for her sins have reached to the sky, and God has remembered her iniquities.
He said to me, “These words are faithful and true. The Lord God of the spirits of the prophets sent his angel to show to his bondservants the things which must happen soon.”
You will eat bread by the sweat of your face until you return to the ground, for you were taken out of it. For you are dust, and you shall return to dust.”
Moses spoke before Yahweh, saying, “Behold, the children of Israel haven’t listened to me. How then shall Pharaoh listen to me, when I have uncircumcised lips?”
Yahweh will scatter you among the peoples, and you will be left few in number among the nations where Yahweh will lead you away.
The king said, “What have I to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah? Because he curses, and because Yahweh has said to him, ‘Curse David;’ who then shall say, ‘Why have you done so?’ ”
I loathe my life. I don’t want to live forever. Leave me alone, for my days are but a breath.
Therefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.”
For my iniquities have gone over my head. As a heavy burden, they are too heavy for me.
All day long my dishonor is before me, and shame covers my face,
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth.”
Those who hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head. Those who want to cut me off, being my enemies wrongfully, are mighty. I have to restore what I didn’t take away.
You are righteous, Yahweh. Your judgments are upright.
Surely there is not a righteous man on earth who does good and doesn’t sin.
But those of those who escape, they will escape and will be on the mountains like doves of the valleys, all of them moaning, everyone in his iniquity.
She shall give birth to a son. You shall name him Jesus, for it is he who shall save his people from their sins.”
Rather, go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
Abraham answered, “See now, I have taken it on myself to speak to the Lord, although I am dust and ashes.
I am not worthy of the least of all the loving kindnesses, and of all the truth, which you have shown to your servant; for with just my staff I crossed over this Jordan; and now I have become two companies.
They said to him, “Hold your peace, put your hand on your mouth, and go with us. Be a father and a priest to us. Is it better for you to be priest to the house of one man, or to be priest to a tribe and a family in Israel?”
and I said, “My God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to you, my God; for our iniquities have increased over our head, and our guiltiness has grown up to the heavens.
“If you have done foolishly in lifting up yourself, or if you have thought evil, put your hand over your mouth.
Then I said, “Woe is me! For I am undone, because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell among a people of unclean lips: for my eyes have seen the King, Yahweh of Armies!”
Let him put his mouth in the dust, if it is so that there may be hope.
For I know nothing against myself. Yet I am not justified by this, but he who judges me is the Lord.
He said, “Oh don’t let the Lord be angry, and I will speak. What if there are thirty found there?” He said, “I will not do it if I find thirty there.”
Judah said, “What will we tell my lord? What will we speak? How will we clear ourselves? God has found out the iniquity of your servants. Behold, we are my lord’s slaves, both we and he also in whose hand the cup is found.”
“If the leprosy breaks out all over the skin, and the leprosy covers all the skin of the infected person from his head even to his feet, as far as it appears to the priest,
They gathered together to Mizpah, and drew water, and poured it out before Yahweh, and fasted on that day, and said there, “We have sinned against Yahweh.” Samuel judged the children of Israel in Mizpah.
I will be yet more vile than this, and will be worthless in my own sight. But the maids of whom you have spoken will honor me.”
David’s heart struck him after he had counted the people. David said to Yahweh, “I have sinned greatly in that which I have done. But now, Yahweh, put away, I beg you, the iniquity of your servant; for I have done very foolishly.”
But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree. Then he requested for himself that he might die, and said, “It is enough. Now, O Yahweh, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.”
Yahweh, the God of Israel, you are righteous; for we are left a remnant that has escaped, as it is today. Behold, we are before you in our guiltiness; for no one can stand before you because of this.”
However you are just in all that has come on us; for you have dealt truly, but we have done wickedly.
that he would maintain the right of a man with God, of a son of man with his neighbor!
They are children of fools, yes, children of wicked men. They were flogged out of the land.
I would declare to him the number of my steps. as a prince would I go near to him.

so he will cleanse many nations. Kings will shut their mouths at him; for they will see that which had not been told them, and they will understand that which they had not heard.
All we like sheep have gone astray. Everyone has turned to his own way; and Yahweh has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
For we have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteousness is like a polluted garment. We all fade like a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.
All her people sigh. They seek bread. They have given their pleasant things for food to refresh their soul. “Look, Yahweh, and see; for I have become despised.”
we have sinned, and have dealt perversely, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even turning aside from your precepts and from your ordinances.
“Lord, righteousness belongs to you, but to us confusion of face, as it is today; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to all Israel, who are near, and who are far off, through all the countries where you have driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against you.
The nations will see and be ashamed of all their might. They will lay their hand on their mouth. Their ears will be deaf.
But Yahweh is in his holy temple. Let all the earth be silent before him!”
Be silent, all flesh, before Yahweh; for he has roused himself from his holy habitation!”
But Simon Peter, when he saw it, fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, Lord.”
But the tax collector, standing far away, wouldn’t even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’
What fruit then did you have at that time in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death.
Now that no man is justified by the law before God is evident, for, “The righteous will live by faith.”
The saying is faithful and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.
