When he had given him permission, Paul, standing on the stairs, beckoned with his hand to the people. When there was a great silence, he spoke to them in the Hebrew language, saying,
These things were done in Bethany beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.
Didn’t Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keeps the law? Why do you seek to kill me?”
Paul stood up, and beckoning with his hand said, “Men of Israel, and you who fear God, listen.
After they were silent, James answered, “Brothers, listen to me.
They brought Alexander out of the multitude, the Jews putting him forward. Alexander beckoned with his hand, and would have made a defense to the people.
But when they persecute you in this city, flee into the next, for most certainly I tell you, you will not have gone through the cities of Israel until the Son of Man has come.
When Jesus had finished these words, he departed from Galilee, and came into the borders of Judea beyond the Jordan.
But the farmers, when they saw the son, said among themselves, ‘This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him, and seize his inheritance.’
He arose from there and came into the borders of Judea and beyond the Jordan. Multitudes came together to him again. As he usually did, he was again teaching them.
John also was baptizing in Enon near Salim, because there was much water there. They came, and were baptized;
For this cause therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill him, because he not only broke the Sabbath, but also called God his own Father, making himself equal with God.
I know that you are Abraham’s offspring, yet you seek to kill me, because my word finds no place in you.
The day following, Paul went in with us to James; and all the elders were present.
But of the other apostles I saw no one except James, the Lord’s brother.
and when they perceived the grace that was given to me, James and Cephas and John, those who were reputed to be pillars, gave to Barnabas and me the right hand of fellowship, that we should go to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcision.
For before some people came from James, he ate with the Gentiles. But when they came, he drew back and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision.
Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his chosen men, answered, “My lord Moses, forbid them!”

I have sworn by myself. The word has gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and will not be revoked, that to me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall take an oath.

This is John’s testimony, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?”
Jesus turned and saw them following, and said to them, “What are you looking for?” They said to him, “Rabbi” (which is to say, being interpreted, Teacher), “where are you staying?”
After these things, Jesus came with his disciples into the land of Judea. He stayed there with them and baptized.
When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to him, and begged him that he would come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death.
This is again the second sign that Jesus did, having come out of Judea into Galilee.
For no one does anything in secret while he seeks to be known openly. If you do these things, reveal yourself to the world.”
Then after this he said to the disciples, “Let’s go into Judea again.”
The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, “See how you accomplish nothing. Behold, the world has gone after him.”
even Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.
Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles,
The children of Israel heard this, “Behold, the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh have built an altar along the border of the land of Canaan, in the region around the Jordan, on the side that belongs to the children of Israel.”
After two full years, Absalom had sheep shearers in Baal Hazor, which is beside Ephraim: and Absalom invited all the king’s sons.
Come and hear, all you who fear God. I will declare what he has done for my soul.
Further, because the Preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge. Yes, he pondered, sought out, and set in order many proverbs.
They have turned their backs to me, and not their faces. Although I taught them, rising up early and teaching them, yet they have not listened to receive instruction.
Jesus went about in all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the Good News of the Kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness among the people.
When Jesus had finished saying these things, the multitudes were astonished at his teaching,
Philip; Bartholomew; Thomas; Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus; Lebbaeus, who was also called Thaddaeus;
Jesus, perceiving that, withdrew from there. Great multitudes followed him; and he healed them all,
When Jesus had finished all these words, he said to his disciples,
All the country of Judea and all those of Jerusalem went out to him. They were baptized by him in the Jordan river, confessing their sins.
They went into Capernaum, and immediately on the Sabbath day he entered into the synagogue and taught.
He went out again by the seaside. All the multitude came to him, and he taught them.
He taught them many things in parables, and told them in his teaching,
He marveled because of their unbelief. He went around the villages teaching.
Jesus came out, saw a great multitude, and he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd, and he began to teach them many things.
When he came out, he could not speak to them. They perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple. He continued making signs to them, and remained mute.
He came into all the region around the Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for remission of sins.
But they were filled with rage, and talked with one another about what they might do to Jesus.
Nevertheless I must go on my way today and tomorrow and the next day, for it can’t be that a prophet would perish outside of Jerusalem.’
The same came to him by night, and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do, unless God is with him.”
They came to John and said to him, “Rabbi, he who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you have testified, behold, he baptizes, and everyone is coming to him.”
he left Judea and departed into Galilee.
After these things, Jesus was walking in Galilee, for he wouldn’t walk in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill him.
But when his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not publicly, but as it were in secret.
Yet no one spoke openly of him for fear of the Jews.
Therefore they took up stones to throw at him, but Jesus was hidden, and went out of the temple, having gone through the middle of them, and so passed by.
Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews, but departed from there into the country near the wilderness, to a city called Ephraim. He stayed there with his disciples.
While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become children of light.” Jesus said these things, and he departed and hid himself from them.
Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, and said to him, “Tell us who it is of whom he speaks.”
Jesus answered him, “I spoke openly to the world. I always taught in synagogues, and in the temple, where the Jews always meet. I said nothing in secret.
When they had come in, they went up into the upper room where they were staying; that is Peter, John, James, Andrew, Philip, Thomas, Bartholomew, Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, Simon the Zealot, and Judas the son of James.
But he, beckoning to them with his hand to be silent, declared to them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. He said, “Tell these things to James and to the brothers.” Then he departed and went to another place.
But as the disciples stood around him, he rose up, and entered into the city. On the next day he went out with Barnabas to Derbe.
They went out of the prison, and entered into Lydia’s house. When they had seen the brothers, they encouraged them, then departed.
When the governor had beckoned to him to speak, Paul answered, “Because I know that you have been a judge of this nation for many years, I cheerfully make my defense,
