Hebrew Text— Numbers 16:22They fell on their faces, and said, “God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and will you be angry with all the congregation?”

Now to him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,
For nothing spoken by God is impossible.”
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
“Ah Lord Yahweh! Behold, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for you.
Looking at them, Jesus said, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
You will eat bread by the sweat of your face until you return to the ground, for you were taken out of it. For you are dust, and you shall return to dust.”
Jesus, looking at them, said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God, for all things are possible with God.”
Is anything too hard for Yahweh? At the set time I will return to you, when the season comes round, and Sarah will have a son.”
His spirit departs, and he returns to the earth. In that very day, his thoughts perish.
The soul who sins, he shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be on him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be on him.
Again, a second time he went away, and prayed, saying, “My Father, if this cup can’t pass away from me unless I drink it, your desire be done.”
saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”
For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me.
Abraham came near, and said, “Will you consume the righteous with the wicked?
“Let Yahweh, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the congregation,
He will not always accuse; neither will he stay angry forever.
Who knows the spirit of man, whether it goes upward, and the spirit of the animal, whether it goes downward to the earth?”
Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
Then he answered and spoke to me, saying, “This is Yahweh’s word to Zerubbabel, saying, ‘Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says Yahweh of Armies.
Call no man on the earth your father, for one is your Father, he who is in heaven.
I can of myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is righteous; because I don’t seek my own will, but the will of my Father who sent me.
‘For in him we live, move, and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also his offspring.’
with all lowliness and humility, with patience, bearing with one another in love,
And being found in human form, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to the point of death, yes, the death of the cross.
And above all things be earnest in your love among yourselves, for love covers a multitude of sins.
but you shall not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil; for in the day that you eat of it, you will surely die.”
Moses said to Aaron, and to Eleazar and to Ithamar, his sons, “Don’t let the hair of your heads go loose, and don’t tear your clothes, so that you don’t die, and so that he will not be angry with all the congregation; but let your brothers, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which Yahweh has kindled.
But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the devoted things; for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of the devoted things. Therefore Yahweh’s anger burned against the children of Israel.
that you must turn away today from following Yahweh? It will be, since you rebel today against Yahweh, that tomorrow he will be angry with the whole congregation of Israel.
Gideon said to God, “Don’t let your anger be kindled against me, and I will speak but this once. Please let me make a trial just this once with the fleece. Let it now be dry only on the fleece, and on all the ground let there be dew.”
but the children of the murderers he didn’t put to death; according to that which is written in the book of the law of Moses, as Yahweh commanded, saying, “The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall die for his own sin.”
God, why have you rejected us forever? Why does your anger smolder against the sheep of your pasture?
God Yahweh, he who created the heavens and stretched them out, he who spread out the earth and that which comes out of it, he who gives breath to its people and spirit to those who walk in it, says:
“Behold, I am Yahweh, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for me?
Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine. The soul who sins, he shall die.
but have lifted up yourself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before you, and you and your lords, your wives, and your concubines, have drunk wine from them. You have praised the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood, and stone, which don’t see, or hear, or know; and you have not glorified the God in whose hand your breath is, and whose are all your ways.
Who is a God like you, who pardons iniquity, and passes over the disobedience of the remnant of his heritage? He doesn’t retain his anger forever, because he delights in loving kindness.
But Jesus answered, “You don’t know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?” They said to him, “We are able.”
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Love is patient and is kind. Love doesn’t envy. Love doesn’t brag, is not proud,
The Lord’s servant must not quarrel, but be gentle toward all, able to teach, patient,
He, in the days of his flesh, having offered up prayers and petitions with strong crying and tears to him who was able to save him from death, and having been heard for his godly fear,
Inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once, and after this, judgment,
Lot went out, and spoke to his sons-in-law, who were pledged to marry his daughters, and said, “Get up! Get out of this place, for Yahweh will destroy the city!” But he seemed to his sons-in-law to be joking.
Now therefore, restore the man’s wife. For he is a prophet, and he will pray for you, and you will live. If you don’t restore her, know for sure that you will die, you, and all who are yours.”
“The leper in whom the plague is shall wear torn clothes, and the hair of his head shall hang loose. He shall cover his upper lip, and shall cry, ‘Unclean! Unclean!’
Moses said to Aaron, “Take your censer, put fire from the altar in it, lay incense on it, carry it quickly to the congregation, and make atonement for them; for wrath has gone out from Yahweh! The plague has begun.”
Didn’t Achan the son of Zerah commit a trespass in the devoted thing, and wrath fell on all the congregation of Israel? That man didn’t perish alone in his iniquity.’ ”
This is an easy thing in Yahweh’s sight. He will also deliver the Moabites into your hand.
in whose hand is the life of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind?
(for the length of my life is still in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils);
You turn man to destruction, saying, “Return, you children of men.”
You hide your face; they are troubled. You take away their breath; they die and return to the dust.
and the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.
But now, Yahweh, you are our Father. We are the clay and you our potter. We all are the work of your hand.
“He has made the earth by his power. He has established the world by his wisdom. By his understanding he has stretched out the heavens.
When I tell the wicked, ‘You will surely die;’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; that wicked man will die in his iniquity; but I will require his blood at your hand.
When I tell the wicked, ‘O wicked man, you will surely die,’ and you don’t speak to warn the wicked from his way; that wicked man will die in his iniquity, but I will require his blood at your hand.
Yahweh of Armies says: “If it is marvelous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in those days, should it also be marvelous in my eyes?” says Yahweh of Armies.
A revelation, Yahweh’s word concerning Israel. Yahweh, who stretches out the heavens, and lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him says:
He went forward a little, fell on his face, and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from me; nevertheless, not what I desire, but what you desire.”
Therefore as sin entered into the world through one man, and death through sin; so death passed to all men, because all sinned.
Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel.
Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly to the door of the Tent of Meeting, and fell on their faces. Yahweh’s glory appeared to them.
David spoke to Yahweh when he saw the angel who struck the people, and said, “Behold, I have sinned, and I have done perversely; but these sheep, what have they done? Please let your hand be against me, and against my father’s house.”
For I will not contend forever, neither will I always be angry; for the spirit would faint before me, and the souls whom I have made.
So Zedekiah the king swore secretly to Jeremiah, saying, “As Yahweh lives, who made us this soul, I will not put you to death, neither will I give you into the hand of these men who seek your life.”
See my hands and my feet, that it is truly me. Touch me and see, for a spirit doesn’t have flesh and bones, as you see that I have.”
Furthermore, we had the fathers of our flesh to chasten us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much rather be in subjection to the Father of spirits, and live?
Yahweh God formed man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
Abram fell on his face. God talked with him, saying,
Then Abraham fell on his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, “Will a child be born to him who is one hundred years old? Will Sarah, who is ninety years old, give birth?”
He said, “Oh don’t let the Lord be angry, and I will speak just once more. What if ten are found there?” He said, “I will not destroy it for the ten’s sake.”
Now therefore leave me alone, that my wrath may burn hot against them, and that I may consume them; and I will make of you a great nation.”
Moses begged Yahweh his God, and said, “Yahweh, why does your wrath burn hot against your people, that you have brought out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand?
Fire came out from before Yahweh, and consumed the burnt offering and the fat upon the altar. When all the people saw it, they shouted, and fell on their faces.
“Get away from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment!” They fell on their faces.
Joshua tore his clothes, and fell to the earth on his face before Yahweh’s ark until the evening, he and the elders of Israel; and they put dust on their heads.
But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, “Give us a king to judge us.” Samuel prayed to Yahweh.
David lifted up his eyes, and saw Yahweh’s angel standing between earth and the sky, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders, clothed in sackcloth, fell on their faces.
All the children of Israel looked on, when the fire came down, and Yahweh’s glory was on the house. They bowed themselves with their faces to the ground on the pavement, worshiped, and gave thanks to Yahweh, saying, “For he is good; for his loving kindness endures forever.”
You foolish ones, didn’t he who made the outside make the inside also?
He isn’t served by men’s hands, as though he needed anything, seeing he himself gives to all life and breath, and all things.
So then as through one trespass, all men were condemned; even so through one act of righteousness, all men were justified to life.
one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all, and in us all.
When Moses heard it, he fell on his face.
He said, “No; but I have come now as commander of Yahweh’s army.” Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and worshiped, and asked him, “What does my lord say to his servant?”
Again Yahweh’s anger burned against Israel, and he moved David against them, saying, “Go, count Israel and Judah.”
bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things.
