“ ‘This is the law of jealousy, when a wife, being under her husband, goes astray, and is defiled,
“ ‘This is the law of the sacrifice of peace offerings, which one shall offer to Yahweh:
“ ‘This is the law of the animal, and of the bird, and of every living creature that moves in the waters, and of every creature that creeps on the earth,
This is the law of the plague of mildew in a garment of wool or linen, either in the warp, or the woof, or in anything of skin, to pronounce it clean, or to pronounce it unclean.
This is the law for any plague of leprosy, and for an itch,
This is the law of him who has a discharge, and of him who has an emission of semen, so that he is unclean by it;
then the man shall bring his wife to the priest, and shall bring her offering for her: one tenth of an ephah of barley meal. He shall pour no oil on it, nor put frankincense on it, for it is a meal offering of jealousy, a meal offering of memorial, bringing iniquity to memory.
The priest shall cause her to take an oath and shall tell the woman, “If no man has lain with you, and if you haven’t gone aside to uncleanness, being under your husband’s authority, be free from this water of bitterness that brings a curse.
But if you have gone astray, being under your husband’s authority, and if you are defiled, and some man has lain with you besides your husband—”
When he has made her drink the water, then it shall happen, if she is defiled and has committed a trespass against her husband, that the water that causes the curse will enter into her and become bitter, and her body will swell, and her thigh will fall away; and the woman will be a curse among her people.
If the woman isn’t defiled, but is clean; then she shall be free, and shall conceive offspring.
“ ‘This is the law of the Nazirite who vows and of his offering to Yahweh for his separation, in addition to that which he is able to afford. According to his vow which he vows, so he must do after the law of his separation.’ ”
But Jesus held his peace. The high priest answered him, “I adjure you by the living God, that you tell us whether you are the Christ, the Son of God.”
for you have had five husbands; and he whom you now have is not your husband. This you have said truly.”
For the woman that has a husband is bound by law to the husband while he lives, but if the husband dies, she is discharged from the law of the husband.
