He saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor. Therefore his own arm brought salvation to him; and his righteousness sustained him.
“Run back and forth through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in its wide places, if you can find a man, if there is anyone who does justly, who seeks truth, then I will pardon her.
You have not gone up into the gaps or built up the wall for the house of Israel, to stand in the battle in Yahweh’s day.
Yahweh rejected all the offspring of Israel, afflicted them, and delivered them into the hands of raiders, until he had cast them out of his sight.
Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had Moses, his chosen, not stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, so that he wouldn’t destroy them.
Samuel took a suckling lamb, and offered it for a whole burnt offering to Yahweh. Samuel cried to Yahweh for Israel; and Yahweh answered him.
Moses and Aaron were among his priests, Samuel was among those who call on his name. They called on Yahweh, and he answered them.
By the blessing of the upright, the city is exalted, but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.
Whoever loves wisdom brings joy to his father; but a companion of prostitutes squanders his wealth.
I looked, and there was no one to help; and I wondered that there was no one to uphold. Therefore my own arm brought salvation to me. My own wrath upheld me.
therefore, behold, I will utterly forget you, and I will cast you off, and the city that I gave to you and to your fathers, away from my presence.
though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they would deliver only their own souls by their righteousness,” says the Lord Yahweh.
We know that God doesn’t listen to sinners, but if anyone is a worshiper of God, and does his will, he listens to him.
Pharaoh was angry with his two officers, the chief cup bearer and the chief baker.
They moved him to jealousy with strange gods. They provoked him to anger with abominations.
They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God. They have provoked me to anger with their vanities. I will move them to jealousy with those who are not a people. I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.
Moreover as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against Yahweh in ceasing to pray for you: but I will instruct you in the good and the right way.
For they provoked him to anger with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their engraved images.
The king’s wrath is like the roaring of a lion, but his favor is like dew on the grass.
Hear Yahweh’s word, you rulers of Sodom! Listen to the law of our God, you people of Gomorrah!
Now therefore don’t be scoffers, lest your bonds be made strong; for I have heard a decree of destruction from the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, on the whole earth.
For the ruthless is brought to nothing, and the scoffer ceases, and all those who are alert to do evil are cut off—
There is no one who calls on your name, who stirs himself up to take hold of you; for you have hidden your face from us, and have consumed us by means of our iniquities.
“Therefore don’t pray for this people. Don’t lift up a cry or prayer for them or make intercession to me; for I will not hear you.
Yahweh said to me, “Don’t pray for this people for their good.
Should evil be recompensed for good? For they have dug a pit for my soul. Remember how I stood before you to speak good for them, to turn away your wrath from them.
For through Yahweh’s anger this happened in Jerusalem and Judah, until he had cast them out from his presence. Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.
He said, “Call his name Lo-Ammi; for you are not my people, and I will not be yours.
For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual sins, thefts, false testimony, and blasphemies.
Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective.
Yahweh said, “If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare the whole place for their sake.”
you shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them, for I, Yahweh your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and on the fourth generation of those who hate me,
Yahweh said to Moses, “Take all the chiefs of the people, and hang them up to Yahweh before the sun, that the fierce anger of Yahweh may turn away from Israel.”
It will happen that everyone who is left in your house will come and bow down to him for a piece of silver and a loaf of bread, and will say, “Please put me into one of the priests’ offices, that I may eat a morsel of bread.” ’ ”
David built an altar to Yahweh there, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. So Yahweh was entreated for the land, and the plague was removed from Israel.
Judah did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, and they provoked him to jealousy with their sins which they committed, above all that their fathers had done.
He said, “I have been very jealous for Yahweh, the God of Armies; for the children of Israel have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword. I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.”
Micaiah said, “Therefore hear Yahweh’s word. I saw Yahweh sitting on his throne, and all the army of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left.
nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that wastes at noonday.
lest strangers feast on your wealth, and your labors enrich another man’s house.
Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.
The terror of a king is like the roaring of a lion. He who provokes him to anger forfeits his own life.
The schemes of folly are sin. The mocker is detested by men.
By patience a ruler is persuaded. A soft tongue breaks the bone.
I will cast you out of my sight, as I have cast out all your brothers, even the whole offspring of Ephraim.
I listened and heard, but they didn’t say what is right. No one repents of his wickedness, saying, “What have I done?” Everyone turns to his course, as a horse that rushes headlong in the battle.
“Therefore don’t pray for this people. Don’t lift up cry or prayer for them; for I will not hear them in the time that they cry to me because of their trouble.
Therefore Yahweh says, “If you return, then I will bring you again, that you may stand before me; and if you take out the precious from the vile, you will be as my mouth. They will return to you, but you will not return to them.
You have covered yourself with a cloud, so that no prayer can pass through.
Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to deliver them in the day of Yahweh’s wrath, but the whole land will be devoured by the fire of his jealousy; for he will make an end, yes, a terrible end, of all those who dwell in the land.
“Therefore wait for me”, says Yahweh, “until the day that I rise up to the prey, for my determination is to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour on them my indignation, even all my fierce anger, for all the earth will be devoured with the fire of my jealousy.
Repent therefore of this, your wickedness, and ask God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you.
Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he?
throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
For I am jealous over you with a godly jealousy. For I married you to one husband, that I might present you as a pure virgin to Christ.
For Christ hasn’t entered into holy places made with hands, which are representations of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us;
You shall say, ‘Not only that, but behold, your servant, Jacob, is behind us.’ ” For, he said, “I will appease him with the present that goes before me, and afterward I will see his face. Perhaps he will accept me.”
So they went away from the tent of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram, on every side. Dathan and Abiram came out, and stood at the door of their tents with their wives, their sons, and their little ones.
Fire came out from Yahweh, and devoured the two hundred fifty men who offered the incense.
He stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was stayed.
He went after the man of Israel into the pavilion, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her body. So the plague was stopped among the children of Israel.
“Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, has turned my wrath away from the children of Israel, in that he was jealous with my jealousy among them, so that I didn’t consume the children of Israel in my jealousy.
Moses spoke to the people, saying, “Arm men from among you for war, that they may go against Midian, to execute Yahweh’s vengeance on Midian.
(I stood between Yahweh and you at that time, to show you Yahweh’s word; for you were afraid because of the fire, and didn’t go up onto the mountain) saying,
On the seventh day, they said to Samson’s wife, “Entice your husband, that he may declare to us the riddle, lest we burn you and your father’s house with fire. Have you called us to impoverish us? Isn’t that so?”
Delilah said to Samson, “Please tell me where your great strength lies, and what you might be bound to afflict you.”
They buried the bones of Saul and Jonathan his son in the country of Benjamin in Zela, in the tomb of Kish his father: and they performed all that the king commanded. After that, God answered prayer for the land.
Behold, fire came down from the sky, and consumed the last two captains of fifty with their fifties. But now let my life be precious in your sight.”
Micaiah said, “Therefore hear Yahweh’s word: I saw Yahweh sitting on his throne, and all the army of heaven standing on his right hand and on his left.
Esther said, “An adversary and an enemy, even this wicked Haman!” Then Haman was afraid before the king and the queen.
Blessed is he who considers the poor. Yahweh will deliver him in the day of evil.
For a prostitute reduces you to a piece of bread. The adulteress hunts for your precious life.
Until an arrow strikes through his liver, as a bird hurries to the snare, and doesn’t know that it will cost his life.
The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable, but the mouth of the wicked is perverse.
The king’s wrath is a messenger of death, but a wise man will pacify it.
An evil man seeks only rebellion; therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him.
for their calamity will rise suddenly. Who knows what destruction may come from them both?
the greyhound; the male goat; and the king against whom there is no rising up.
Now a poor wise man was found in it, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man.
If the spirit of the ruler rises up against you, don’t leave your place; for gentleness lays great offenses to rest.
Set me as a seal on your heart, as a seal on your arm; for love is strong as death. Jealousy is as cruel as Sheol. Its flashes are flashes of fire, a very flame of Yahweh.
Therefore hear Yahweh’s word, you scoffers, that rule this people in Jerusalem:
Then Yahweh said to me, “Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind would not turn toward this people. Cast them out of my sight, and let them go out!
‘Hear Yahweh’s word, king of Judah, who sits on David’s throne, you, your servants, and your people who enter in by these gates.
“I sought for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I would not destroy it; but I found no one.
Because of this, the king was angry and very furious, and commanded that all the wise men of Babylon be destroyed.
“I will heal their waywardness. I will love them freely; for my anger is turned away from him.
Immediately Jesus, perceiving in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, said to them, “Why do you reason these things in your hearts?
Immediately the king sent out a soldier of his guard, and commanded to bring John’s head, and he went and beheaded him in the prison,
covetings, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, and foolishness.
Now Herod was very angry with the people of Tyre and Sidon. They came with one accord to him, and, having made Blastus, the king’s personal aide, their friend, they asked for peace, because their country depended on the king’s country for food.
We are therefore ambassadors on behalf of Christ, as though God were entreating by us: we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
