Yahweh’s eyes are toward the righteous. His ears listen to their cry.
Don’t hide your face from your servant, for I am in distress. Answer me speedily!
“Now, my God, let, I beg you, your eyes be open, and let your ears be attentive, to the prayer that is made in this place.
Now for a little moment grace has been shown from Yahweh our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a nail in his holy place, that our God may lighten our eyes, and revived us a little in our bondage.
Don’t hide your face from me. Don’t put your servant away in anger. You have been my help. Don’t abandon me, neither forsake me, God of my salvation.
To you, Yahweh, I call. My rock, don’t be deaf to me, lest, if you are silent to me, I would become like those who go down into the pit.
When they are heated, I will make their feast, and I will make them drunk, that they may rejoice, and sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake up,” says Yahweh.
Give ear to my words, Yahweh. Consider my meditation.
Valiant men lie plundered, they have slept their last sleep. None of the men of war can lift their hands.
The poor man and the oppressor have this in common: Yahweh gives sight to the eyes of both.
Behold, you have driven me out today from the surface of the ground. I will be hidden from your face, and I will be a fugitive and a wanderer in the earth. Whoever finds me will kill me.”
But Jonathan didn’t hear when his father commanded the people with the oath. Therefore he put out the end of the rod that was in his hand, and dipped it in the honeycomb, and put his hand to his mouth; and his eyes brightened.
Then Jonathan said, “My father has troubled the land. Please look how my eyes have brightened, because I tasted a little of this honey.
Let your ear now be attentive, and your eyes open, that you may listen to the prayer of your servant, which I pray before you at this time, day and night, for the children of Israel your servants, while I confess the sins of the children of Israel, which we have sinned against you. Yes, I and my father’s house have sinned.
Lord, I beg you, let your ear be attentive now to the prayer of your servant, and to the prayer of your servants, who delight to fear your name; and please prosper your servant today, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man.” Now I was cup bearer to the king.
Hear, Yahweh, my righteous plea; Give ear to my prayer, that doesn’t go out of deceitful lips.
For you will light my lamp, Yahweh. My God will light up my darkness.
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, Yahweh, my rock, and my redeemer.
Hear, Yahweh, when I cry with my voice. Have mercy also on me, and answer me.
You, Yahweh, when you favored me, made my mountain stand strong; but when you hid your face, I was troubled.
They looked to him, and were radiant. Their faces shall never be covered with shame.
I waited patiently for Yahweh. He turned to me, and heard my cry.
Hear my voice, God, in my complaint. Preserve my life from fear of the enemy.
I am counted among those who go down into the pit. I am like a man who has no help,
Unless Yahweh had been my help, my soul would have soon lived in silence.
Hear my prayer, Yahweh! Let my cry come to you.
Consider my affliction, and deliver me, for I don’t forget your law.
So they, and all that belonged to them went down alive into Sheol. The earth closed on them, and they perished from among the assembly.
Don’t consider your servant a wicked woman; for I have been speaking out of the abundance of my complaint and my provocation.”
Yet have respect for the prayer of your servant, and for his supplication, Yahweh my God, to listen to the cry and to the prayer which your servant prays before you today;
the food of his table, the seating of his servants, the attendance of his ministers, their clothing, his cup bearers also, their clothing, and his ascent by which he went up to Yahweh’s house; there was no more spirit in her.
For the arrows of the Almighty are within me. My spirit drinks up their poison. The terrors of God set themselves in array against me.
Shall it go down with me to the gates of Sheol, or descend together into the dust?”
When he gives quietness, who then can condemn? When he hides his face, who then can see him? He is over a nation or a man alike,
Yahweh, my God, I take refuge in you. Save me from all those who pursue me, and deliver me,
Have mercy on me, Yahweh. See my affliction by those who hate me, and lift me up from the gates of death,
Yahweh has made himself known. He has executed judgment. The wicked is snared by the work of his own hands.
Behold, and answer me, Yahweh, my God. Give light to my eyes, lest I sleep in death;
Yahweh’s precepts are right, rejoicing the heart. Yahweh’s commandment is pure, enlightening the eyes.
For he has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted, Neither has he hidden his face from him; but when he cried to him, he heard.
Show me your ways, Yahweh. Teach me your paths.
Consider my enemies, for they are many. They hate me with cruel hatred.
Hear the voice of my petitions, when I cry to you, when I lift up my hands toward your Most Holy Place.
Bow down your ear to me. Deliver me speedily. Be to me a strong rock, a house of defense to save me.
I will be glad and rejoice in your loving kindness, for you have seen my affliction. You have known my soul in adversities.
But I am poor and needy. May the Lord think about me. You are my help and my deliverer. Don’t delay, my God.
Listen to my prayer, God. Don’t hide yourself from my supplication.
Hear my cry, God. Listen to my prayer.
I am weary with my crying. My throat is dry. My eyes fail looking for my God.
Hurry, God, to deliver me. Come quickly to help me, Yahweh.
But I am poor and needy. Come to me quickly, God. You are my help and my deliverer. Yahweh, don’t delay.
God, don’t be far from me. My God, hurry to help me.
Hear us, Shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph like a flock, you who sit above the cherubim, shine out.
My soul longs, and even faints for the courts of Yahweh. My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.
Hear, Yahweh, and answer me, for I am poor and needy.
Hear, Yahweh, my prayer. Listen to the voice of my petitions.
Don’t hide your face from me in the day of my distress. Turn your ear to me. Answer me quickly in the day when I call.
My eyes fail looking for your salvation, for your righteous word.
Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my petitions.
I said to Yahweh, “You are my God.” Listen to the cry of my petitions, Yahweh.
Yahweh, I have called on you. Come to me quickly! Listen to my voice when I call to you.
Listen to my cry, for I am in desperate need. Deliver me from my persecutors, for they are too strong for me.
Hurry to answer me, Yahweh. My spirit fails. Don’t hide your face from me, so that I don’t become like those who go down into the pit.
Let’s swallow them up alive like Sheol, and whole, like those who go down into the pit.
Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when longing is fulfilled, it is a tree of life.
I will wait for Yahweh, who hides his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.
Turn your ear, Yahweh, and hear. Open your eyes, Yahweh, and behold. Hear all of the words of Sennacherib, who has sent to defy the living God.
I chattered like a swallow or a crane. I moaned like a dove. My eyes weaken looking upward. Lord, I am oppressed. Be my security.”
For Sheol can’t praise you. Death can’t celebrate you. Those who go down into the pit can’t hope for your truth.
For I will not contend forever, neither will I always be angry; for the spirit would faint before me, and the souls whom I have made.
I will make her princes, her wise men, her governors, her deputies, and her mighty men drunk. They will sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake up,” says the King, whose name is Yahweh of Armies.
He has made me dwell in dark places, as those who have been long dead.
Remember, Yahweh, what has come on us. Look, and see our reproach.
I went down to the bottoms of the mountains. The earth barred me in forever: yet have you brought up my life from the pit, Yahweh my God.
a light for revelation to the nations, and the glory of your people Israel.”
men fainting for fear, and for expectation of the things which are coming on the world: for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don’t know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can’t be uttered.
Therefore he says, “Awake, you who sleep, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”
For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears open to their prayer; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”
The city has no need for the sun or moon to shine, for the very glory of God illuminated it, and its lamp is the Lamb.
