We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose.
It is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I may learn your statutes.
God, having raised up his servant Jesus, sent him to you first to bless you, in turning away every one of you from your wickedness.”
His brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers, and they hated him, and couldn’t speak peaceably to him.
As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to save many people alive, as is happening today.
him, being delivered up by the determined counsel and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by the hand of lawless men, crucified and killed;
Now don’t be grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that you sold me here, for God sent me before you to preserve life.
Your tongue plots destruction, like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.
However he doesn’t mean so, neither does his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy, and to cut off not a few nations.
But I was like a gentle lamb that is led to the slaughter. I didn’t know that they had devised plans against me, saying, “Let’s destroy the tree with its fruit, and let’s cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.”
and saying, “You who destroy the temple, and build it in three days, save yourself! If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross!”
They sent some of the Pharisees and the Herodians to him, that they might trap him with words.
Those who passed by blasphemed him, wagging their heads, and saying, “Ha! You who destroy the temple, and build it in three days,
The men of Israel said, “Have you seen this man who has come up? He has surely come up to defy Israel. The king will give great riches to the man who kills him, and will give him his daughter, and make his father’s house free in Israel.”
Saul was afraid of David, because Yahweh was with him, and had departed from Saul.
Saul said, “Tell David, ‘The king desires no dowry except one hundred foreskins of the Philistines, to be avenged of the king’s enemies.’ ” Now Saul thought he would make David fall by the hand of the Philistines.
Please forgive the trespass of your servant. For Yahweh will certainly make my lord a sure house, because my lord fights Yahweh’s battles. Evil will not be found in you all your days.
“We heard him say, ‘I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and in three days I will build another made without hands.’ ”
having eyes full of adultery, and who can’t cease from sin; enticing unsettled souls; having a heart trained in greed; children of cursing;
Saul sought to pin David to the wall with the spear; but he slipped away out of Saul’s presence, and he stuck the spear into the wall. David fled, and escaped that night.
Now therefore know and consider what you will do; for evil is determined against our master, and against all his house; for he is such a worthless fellow that one can’t speak to him.”
For they intended evil against you. They plotted evil against you which cannot succeed.
For I have heard the defaming of many, “Terror on every side! Denounce, and we will denounce him!” say all my familiar friends, those who watch for my fall. “Perhaps he will be persuaded, and we will prevail against him, and we will take our revenge on him.”
You will mention the message from Yahweh no more: for every man’s own word has become his message; for you have perverted the words of the living God, of Yahweh of Armies, our God.
Therefore they will now go captive with the first who go captive; and the feasting and lounging will end.
For the priest’s lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth; for he is the messenger of Yahweh of Armies.
“Don’t think that I came to destroy the law or the prophets. I didn’t come to destroy, but to fulfill.
he shall not honor his father or mother.’ You have made the commandment of God void because of your tradition.
They threw him out of the city and stoned him. The witnesses placed their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul.
About him we have many words to say, and hard to interpret, seeing you have become dull of hearing.
So the tongue is also a little member, and boasts great things. See how a small fire can spread to a large forest!
Come, and let’s sell him to the Ishmaelites, and not let our hand be on him; for he is our brother, our flesh.” His brothers listened to him.
Pharaoh’s servants said to him, “How long will this man be a snare to us? Let the men go, that they may serve Yahweh, their God. Don’t you yet know that Egypt is destroyed?”

and that all this assembly may know that Yahweh doesn’t save with sword and spear; for the battle is Yahweh’s, and he will give you into our hand.”
and Saul threw the spear, for he said, “I will pin David to the wall!” David escaped from his presence twice.
When his servants told David these words, it pleased David well to be the king’s son-in-law. Before the deadline,

Surely the wrath of man praises you. The survivors of your wrath are restrained.
He sent a man before them. Joseph was sold for a slave.
Then I saw all the labor and achievement that is the envy of a man’s neighbor. This also is vanity and a striving after wind.
The ways of the scoundrel are evil. He devises wicked plans to destroy the humble with lying words, even when the needy speaks right.
Yahweh, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, says to him whom man despises, to him whom the nation abhors, to a servant of rulers: “Kings shall see and rise up, princes, and they shall worship, because of Yahweh who is faithful, even the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.”
He was despised and rejected by men, a man of suffering and acquainted with disease. He was despised as one from whom men hide their face; and we didn’t respect him.
They are all grievous rebels, going around to slander. They are bronze and iron. All of them deal corruptly.
“Now therefore, speak to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, ‘Yahweh says: “Behold, I frame evil against you, and devise a plan against you. Everyone return from his evil way now, and amend your ways and your doings.” ’
They say continually to those who despise me, ‘Yahweh has said, “You will have peace;” ’ and to everyone who walks in the stubbornness of his own heart they say, ‘No evil will come on you.’
When he was in Benjamin’s gate, a captain of the guard was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he seized Jeremiah the prophet, saying, “You are defecting to the Chaldeans!”
then Azariah the son of Hoshaiah, Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the proud men spoke, saying to Jeremiah, “You speak falsely. Yahweh our God has not sent you to say, ‘You shall not go into Egypt to live there;’
Mischief will come on mischief, and rumor will be on rumor. They will seek a vision of the prophet; but the law will perish from the priest, and counsel from the elders.
Does the trumpet alarm sound in a city, without the people being afraid? Does evil happen to a city, and Yahweh hasn’t done it?
Therefore Yahweh says: ‘Your wife shall be a prostitute in the city, and your sons and your daughters shall fall by the sword, and your land shall be divided by line; and you yourself shall die in a land that is unclean, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of his land.’ ”
For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the whale, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, “Why do you test me, you hypocrites?
One of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, testing him.
“When, therefore, you see the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand),
saying, “Sir, we remember what that deceiver said while he was still alive: ‘After three days I will rise again.’
They watched him, whether he would heal him on the Sabbath day, that they might accuse him.
He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.
So when Jesus came, he found that he had been in the tomb four days already.
to do whatever your hand and your council foreordained to happen.
Then they secretly induced men to say, “We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and God.”
crying out, “Men of Israel, help! This is the man who teaches all men everywhere against the people, and the law, and this place. Moreover, he also brought Greeks into the temple, and has defiled this holy place!”
But if the Spirit of him who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.
For perhaps he was therefore separated from you for a while, that you would have him forever,
as also in all of his letters, speaking in them of these things. In those, there are some things that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unsettled twist, as they also do to the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.
Saul said to David, “Behold, my elder daughter Merab, I will give her to you as wife. Only be valiant for me, and fight Yahweh’s battles.” For Saul said, “Don’t let my hand be on him, but let the hand of the Philistines be on him.”
Saul said, I will give her to him, that she may be a snare to him, and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him. Therefore Saul said to David, “You shall today be my son-in-law a second time.”
Saul was even more afraid of David; and Saul was David’s enemy continually.
If he says, ‘It is well,’ your servant shall have peace; but if he is angry, then know that evil is determined by him.
Saul cast his spear at him to strike him. By this Jonathan knew that his father was determined to put David to death.
All who hate me whisper together against me. They imagine the worst for me.
Then they said, “Come! Let’s devise plans against Jeremiah; for the law won’t perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let’s strike him with the tongue, and let’s not give heed to any of his words.”
For Amos says, ‘Jeroboam will die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of his land.’ ”
Then the Pharisees went and took counsel how they might entrap him in his talk.
and said, “This man said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.’ ”
lying in wait for him, and seeking to catch him in something he might say, that they might accuse him.
Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”
and set up false witnesses who said, “This man never stops speaking blasphemous words against this holy place and the law.
