Hebrew Text— 2 Samuel 6:20Then David returned to bless his household. Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, “How glorious the king of Israel was today, who uncovered himself today in the eyes of his servants’ maids, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovers himself!”

Only be careful, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things which your eyes saw, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life; but make them known to your children and your children’s children—
Elijah came near to all the people, and said, “How long will you waver between the two sides? If Yahweh is God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him.” The people didn’t say a word.
I said to you, “I am Yahweh your God. You shall not fear the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell.” But you have not listened to my voice.’ ”
You shall not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor follow their practices, but you shall utterly overthrow them and demolish their pillars.
As he thus made his defense, Festus said with a loud voice, “Paul, you are crazy! Your great learning is driving you insane!”
As Yahweh’s ark came into David’s city, Michal the daughter of Saul looked out through the window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before Yahweh; and she despised him in her heart.
Early in the morning, Laban rose up, and kissed his sons and his daughters, and blessed them. Laban departed and returned to his place.
But Samuel ministered before Yahweh, being a child, clothed with a linen ephod.
My God, I have trusted in you. Don’t let me be shamed. Don’t let my enemies triumph over me.
He has shown you, O man, what is good. What does Yahweh require of you, but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?
For even his brothers didn’t believe in him.
Many of them said, “He has a demon, and is insane! Why do you listen to him?”
And the tongue is a fire. The world of iniquity among our members is the tongue, which defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature, and is set on fire by Gehenna.
Then Jacob said to his household, and to all who were with him, “Put away the foreign gods that are among you, purify yourselves, change your garments.
As soon as Gideon was dead, the children of Israel turned again and played the prostitute following the Baals, and made Baal Berith their god.
When all who knew him before saw that, behold, he prophesied with the prophets, then the people said to one another, “What is this that has come to the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets?”
Samuel came no more to see Saul until the day of his death; for Samuel mourned for Saul: and Yahweh grieved that he had made Saul king over Israel.
He also stripped off his clothes, and he also prophesied before Samuel, and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Therefore they say, “Is Saul also among the prophets?”
Now therefore, don’t let my blood fall to the earth away from the presence of Yahweh; for the king of Israel has come out to seek a flea, as when one hunts a partridge in the mountains.”
David danced before Yahweh with all his might; and David was clothed in a linen ephod.
For I have kept Yahweh’s ways, and have not wickedly departed from my God.
The king turned his face around, and blessed all the assembly of Israel; and all the assembly of Israel stood.
You, Solomon my son, know the God of your father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind; for Yahweh searches all hearts, and understands all the imaginations of the thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will cast you off forever.
Don’t let those who are my enemies wrongfully rejoice over me; neither let those who hate me without a cause wink their eyes.
I have sworn, and have confirmed it, that I will obey your righteous ordinances.
For this I will lament and wail; I will go stripped and naked; I will howl like the jackals, and moan like the daughters of owls.
But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to councils, and in their synagogues they will scourge you.
“Be angry, and don’t sin.” Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath,
Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a tambourine in her hand; and all the women went out after her with tambourines and with dances.
Moses saw all the work, and behold, they had done it as Yahweh had commanded. They had done so; and Moses blessed them.
Joshua blessed him; and he gave Hebron to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for an inheritance.
They gave him seventy pieces of silver out of the house of Baal Berith, with which Abimelech hired vain and reckless fellows who followed him.
Then Jephthah fled from his brothers and lived in the land of Tob. Outlaws joined up with Jephthah, and they went out with him.
The Philistine said to David, “Am I a dog, that you come to me with sticks?” The Philistine cursed David by his gods.
Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, with cedar trees, carpenters, and masons; and they built David a house.
He bowed down, and said, “What is your servant, that you should look at such a dead dog as I am?”
Then Abishai the son of Zeruiah said to the king, “Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? Please let me go over and take off his head.”
He stood, and blessed all the assembly of Israel with a loud voice, saying,
As for you, if you will walk before me, as David your father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded you, and will keep my statutes and my ordinances;
As the ark of Yahweh’s covenant came to David’s city, Michal the daughter of Saul looked out at the window, and saw king David dancing and playing; and she despised him in her heart.
Worthless men were gathered to him, wicked fellows who strengthened themselves against Rehoboam the son of Solomon, when Rehoboam was young and tender hearted, and could not withstand them.
lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed against him;” lest my adversaries rejoice when I fall.
Save your people, and bless your inheritance. Be their shepherd also, and bear them up forever.
I will exalt you, my God, the King. I will praise your name forever and ever.
Praise him with tambourine and dancing! Praise him with stringed instruments and flute!
Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
Sigh, but not aloud. Make no mourning for the dead. Bind your headdress on you, and put your sandals on your feet. Don’t cover your lips, and don’t eat mourner’s bread.”
Your turbans will be on your heads, and your sandals on your feet. You won’t mourn or weep; but you will pine away in your iniquities, and moan one toward another.
Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven; for all his works are truth, and his ways justice; and those who walk in pride he is able to abase.
It will happen in that day, that the prophets will each be ashamed of his vision, when he prophesies; neither will they wear a hairy mantle to deceive:
Now John himself wore clothing made of camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey.
Don’t be afraid of those who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul. Rather, fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in Gehenna.
Now the chief priests, the elders, and the whole council sought false testimony against Jesus, that they might put him to death;
His mother and his brothers came, and standing outside, they sent to him, calling him.
But the unpersuaded Jews took along some wicked men from the marketplace, and gathering a crowd, set the city in an uproar. Assaulting the house of Jason, they sought to bring them out to the people.
Don’t you know that when you present yourselves as servants and obey someone, you are the servants of whomever you obey; whether of sin to death, or of obedience to righteousness?
For if we are beside ourselves, it is for God. Or if we are of sober mind, it is for you.
You fathers, don’t provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger;
He who says he is in the light and hates his brother is in the darkness even until now.
Beloved, if our hearts don’t condemn us, we have boldness toward God;
and you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up.
lest there should be among you man, woman, family, or tribe whose heart turns away today from Yahweh our God, to go to serve the gods of those nations; lest there should be among you a root that produces bitter poison;
They went out into the field, harvested their vineyards, trod the grapes, celebrated, and went into the house of their god and ate and drank, and cursed Abimelech.
When all the men of the tower of Shechem heard of it, they entered into the stronghold of the house of Elberith.
They lifted up their voices and wept again; then Orpah kissed her mother-in-law, but Ruth stayed with her.
Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion. This is David’s city.
David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, as were all the Levites who bore the ark, the singers, and Chenaniah the choir master with the singers; and David had an ephod of linen on him.
“Go, gather together all the Jews who are present in Susa, and fast for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day. I and my maidens will also fast the same way. Then I will go in to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish.”
But he knows the way that I take. When he has tried me, I will come out like gold.
You have turned my mourning into dancing for me. You have removed my sackcloth, and clothed me with gladness,
Those who sing as well as those who dance say, “All my springs are in you.”
No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to one, and despise the other. You aren’t able to serve God and Mammon.”
They said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
one who rules his own house well, having children in subjection with all reverence;
But without any dispute the lesser is blessed by the greater.
For I have known him, to the end that he may command his children and his household after him, that they may keep the way of Yahweh, to do righteousness and justice; to the end that Yahweh may bring on Abraham that which he has spoken of him.”
So Joshua blessed them, and sent them away; and they went to their tents.
If it seems evil to you to serve Yahweh, choose today whom you will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell; but as for me and my house, we will serve Yahweh.”
Against whom has the king of Israel come out? Whom do you pursue? A dead dog? A flea?
When David had finished offering the burnt offering and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of Yahweh of Armies.
All the people went over the Jordan, and the king went over. Then the king kissed Barzillai, and blessed him; and he returned to his own place.
All the people departed, each man to his house; and David returned to bless his house.
They are children of fools, yes, children of wicked men. They were flogged out of the land.
I will extol you, Yahweh, for you have raised me up, and have not made my foes to rejoice over me.
I will be careful to live a blameless life. When will you come to me? I will walk within my house with a blameless heart.
at that time Yahweh spoke by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, “Go, and loosen the sackcloth from off your waist, and take your sandals from off your feet.” He did so, walking naked and barefoot.
But I tell you that everyone who is angry with his brother without a cause will be in danger of the judgment. Whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca!’ will be in danger of the council. Whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of Gehenna.
When his friends heard it, they went out to seize him; for they said, “He is insane.”
Then he came to Simon Peter. He said to him, “Lord, do you wash my feet?”
