He who has pity on the poor lends to Yahweh; he will reward him.
We exhort you, brothers: Admonish the disorderly; encourage the faint-hearted; support the weak; be patient toward all.
Whoever gives one of these little ones just a cup of cold water to drink in the name of a disciple, most certainly I tell you he will in no way lose his reward.”
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that you through his poverty might become rich.
As it is written, “He has scattered abroad. He has given to the poor. His righteousness remains forever.”
“ ‘When you reap the harvest of your land, you must not wholly reap into the corners of your field, and you must not gather the gleanings of your harvest. You must leave them for the poor, and for the foreigner. I am Yahweh your God.’ ”
In the morning sow your seed, and in the evening don’t withhold your hand; for you don’t know which will prosper, whether this or that, or whether they both will be equally good.
For God is not unrighteous, so as to forget your work and the labor of love which you showed toward his name, in that you served the saints, and still do serve them.
and Yahweh will guide you continually, satisfy your soul in dry places, and make your bones strong. You will be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water whose waters don’t fail.
The Levite, because he has no portion nor inheritance with you, as well as the foreigner living among you, the fatherless, and the widow who are within your gates shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that Yahweh your God may bless you in all the work of your hand which you do.
She took it up, and went into the city. Then her mother-in-law saw what she had gleaned; and she brought out and gave to her that which she had left after she had enough.
I will cut off all the horns of the wicked, but the horns of the righteous shall be lifted up.
Blessed are you who sow beside all waters, who send out the feet of the ox and the donkey.
Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, and cast out demons. Freely you received, so freely give.
contributing to the needs of the saints; given to hospitality.
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, that you, always having all sufficiency in everything, may abound to every good work.
Have this in your mind, which was also in Christ Jesus,
You shall say before Yahweh your God, “I have put away the holy things out of my house, and also have given them to the Levite, to the foreigner, to the fatherless, and to the widow, according to all your commandment which you have commanded me. I have not transgressed any of your commandments, neither have I forgotten them.
David took all the flocks and the herds, which they drove before those other livestock, and said, “This is David’s plunder.”
Solomon offered for the sacrifice of peace offerings, which he offered to Yahweh, twenty two thousand head of cattle, and one hundred twenty thousand sheep. So the king and all the children of Israel dedicated Yahweh’s house.
Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel to Mount Carmel, and four hundred fifty of the prophets of Baal, and four hundred of the prophets of the Asherah, who eat at Jezebel’s table.”
Then he said to them, “Go your way. Eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to him for whom nothing is prepared, for today is holy to our Lord. Don’t be grieved, for the joy of Yahweh is your strength.”
Blessed is he who considers the poor. Yahweh will deliver him in the day of evil.
It is well with the man who deals graciously and lends. He will maintain his cause in judgment.
One who is greedy stirs up strife; but one who trusts in Yahweh will prosper.
Cast your bread on the waters; for you shall find it after many days.
Give a portion to seven, yes, even to eight; for you don’t know what evil will be on the earth.
Strengthen the weak hands, and make the feeble knees firm.
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
and you will be blessed, because they don’t have the resources to repay you. For you will be repaid in the resurrection of the righteous.”
Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work.
Now in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplying, a complaint arose from the Hellenists against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily service.
how I didn’t shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable, teaching you publicly and from house to house,
In all things I gave you an example, that so laboring you ought to help the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
Remember this: he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly. He who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.
Remember those who are in bonds, as bound with them, and those who are ill-treated, since you are also in the body.
But don’t forget to be doing good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
“ ‘If your brother has become poor, and his hand can’t support himself among you, then you shall uphold him. He shall live with you like an alien and a temporary resident.
You shall eat and be full, and you shall bless Yahweh your God for the good land which he has given you.
You shall surely restore to him the pledge when the sun goes down, that he may sleep in his garment and bless you. It shall be righteousness to you before Yahweh your God.
When you reap your harvest in your field, and have forgotten a sheaf in the field, you shall not go again to get it. It shall be for the foreigner, for the fatherless, and for the widow, that Yahweh your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.
Yahweh, bless his skills. Accept the work of his hands. Strike through the hips of those who rise up against him, of those who hate him, that they not rise again.”
Now this present which your servant has brought to my lord, let it be given to the young men who follow my lord.
Then the king said to Ziba, “Behold, all that belongs to Mephibosheth is yours.” Ziba said, “I bow down. Let me find favor in your sight, my lord, O king.”
The king said to him, “Why do you speak any more of your matters? I say, you and Ziba divide the land.”
Now, behold, in my affliction I have prepared for Yahweh’s house one hundred thousand talents of gold, one million talents of silver, and bronze and iron without weight; for it is in abundance. I have also prepared timber and stone; and you may add to them.
He also appointed the king’s portion of his possessions for the burnt offerings, for the morning and evening burnt offerings, and the burnt offerings for the Sabbaths, for the new moons, and for the set feasts, as it is written in Yahweh’s law.
So Yahweh blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning. He had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand female donkeys.
All day long he deals graciously, and lends. His offspring is blessed.
Wait for Yahweh, and keep his way, and he will exalt you to inherit the land. When the wicked are cut off, you shall see it.
But you have exalted my horn like that of the wild ox. I am anointed with fresh oil.
Wealth and riches are in his house. His righteousness endures forever.
so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine.
The memory of the righteous is blessed, but the name of the wicked will rot.
There is one who scatters, and increases yet more. There is one who withholds more than is appropriate, but gains poverty.
The liberal soul shall be made fat. He who waters shall be watered also himself.
The soul of the sluggard desires, and has nothing, but the desire of the diligent shall be fully satisfied.
He who despises his neighbor sins, but he who has pity on the poor is blessed.
There are those who covet greedily all day long; but the righteous give and don’t withhold.
The rich rule over the poor. The borrower is servant to the lender.
Don’t eat the food of him who has a stingy eye, and don’t crave his delicacies:
One who gives to the poor has no lack; but one who closes his eyes will have many curses.
She opens her arms to the poor; yes, she extends her hands to the needy.
He has shown you, O man, what is good. What does Yahweh require of you, but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?
Give to him who asks you, and don’t turn away him who desires to borrow from you.
They all ate, and were filled. They took up twelve baskets full of that which remained left over from the broken pieces.
Give to everyone who asks you, and don’t ask him who takes away your goods to give them back again.
But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing back; and your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High; for he is kind toward the unthankful and evil.
“Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be given to you. For with the same measure you measure it will be measured back to you.”
But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you.
I planted. Apollos watered. But God gave the increase.
And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you.
But we don’t want you to be ignorant, brothers, concerning those who have fallen asleep, so that you don’t grieve like the rest, who have no hope.
Honor widows who are widows indeed.
Abraham hurried into the tent to Sarah, and said, “Quickly prepare three seahs of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes.”
Abraham took sheep and cattle, and gave them to Abimelech. Those two made a covenant.
“No, my lord, hear me. I give you the field, and I give you the cave that is in it. In the presence of the children of my people I give it to you. Bury your dead.”
She said moreover to him, “We have both straw and feed enough, and room to lodge in.”
then she tells me, “Drink, and I will also draw for your camels,”—let her be the woman whom Yahweh has appointed for my master’s son.’
You shall surely give, and your heart shall not be grieved when you give to him, because it is for this thing Yahweh your God will bless you in all your work and in all that you put your hand to.
At meal time Boaz said to her, “Come here, and eat some bread, and dip your morsel in the vinegar.” She sat beside the reapers, and they passed her parched grain. She ate, was satisfied, and left some of it.
He said, “Bring the mantle that is on you, and hold it.” She held it; and he measured six measures of barley, and laid it on her; then he went into the city.
When David came to Ziklag, he sent some of the plunder to the elders of Judah, even to his friends, saying, “Behold, a present for you from the plunder of Yahweh’s enemies.”
Then the king called to Ziba, Saul’s servant, and said to him, “All that belonged to Saul and to all his house I have given to your master’s son.
brought beds, basins, earthen vessels, wheat, barley, meal, parched grain, beans, lentils, roasted grain,
All this, O king, does Araunah give to the king.” Araunah said to the king, “May Yahweh your God accept you.”
Please let’s make a little room on the roof. Let’s set a bed, a table, a chair, and a lamp stand for him there. When he comes to us, he can stay there.”
Josiah gave to the children of the people, of the flock, lambs and young goats, all of them for the Passover offerings, to all who were present, to the number of thirty thousand, and three thousand bulls. These were of the king’s substance.
Moreover there were at my table, of the Jews and the rulers, one hundred fifty men, in addition to those who came to us from among the nations that were around us.
The wicked borrow, and don’t pay back, but the righteous give generously.
He has dispersed, he has given to the poor. His righteousness endures forever. His horn will be exalted with honor.
He who has a generous eye will be blessed; for he shares his food with the poor.
Peter got up and went with them. When he had come, they brought him into the upper room. All the widows stood by him weeping, and showing the coats and garments which Dorcas had made while she was with them.
or he who exhorts, to his exhorting; he who gives, let him do it with generosity; he who rules, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.
how in much proof of affliction, the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded to the riches of their generosity.
Let each man give according as he has determined in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
that they do good, that they be rich in good works, that they be ready to distribute, willing to share;
