Hebrew Text— Job 36:23Who has prescribed his way for him? Or who can say, ‘You have committed unrighteousness?’

having predestined us for adoption as children through Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his desire,
You turn things upside down! Should the potter be thought to be like clay; that the thing made should say about him who made it, “He didn’t make me;” or the thing formed say of him who formed it, “He has no understanding?”
We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose.
The Rock: his work is perfect, for all his ways are just. A God of faithfulness who does no wrong, just and right is he.
No longer do I call you servants, for the servant doesn’t know what his lord does. But I have called you friends, for everything that I heard from my Father, I have made known to you.
giving thanks to the Father, who made us fit to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light,
“Isn’t this laid up in store with me, sealed up among my treasures?
Now Naaman, captain of the army of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honorable, because by him Yahweh had given victory to Syria: he was also a mighty man of valor, but he was a leper.
Now therefore let the fear of Yahweh be on you. Take heed and do it; for there is no iniquity with Yahweh our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of bribes.”
For he is not a man, as I am, that I should answer him, that we should come together in judgment.
Have you heard the secret counsel of God? Do you limit wisdom to yourself?
Why do you strive against him, because he doesn’t give account of any of his matters?
The counsel of Yahweh stands fast forever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.
There are many plans in a man’s heart, but Yahweh’s counsel will prevail.
But now, Yahweh, you are our Father. We are the clay and you our potter. We all are the work of your hand.
Whom he predestined, those he also called. Whom he called, those he also justified. Whom he justified, those he also glorified.
to an incorruptible and undefiled inheritance that doesn’t fade away, reserved in Heaven for you,
Yahweh God formed man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
May it be far from you to do things like that, to kill the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous should be like the wicked. May that be far from you. Shouldn’t the Judge of all the earth do right?”
The secret things belong to Yahweh our God; but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.
Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in the Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God; and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.
“Shall any teach God knowledge, since he judges those who are high?
Yes surely, God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert justice.
Behold, God is exalted in his power. Who is a teacher like him?
“I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be restrained.
The Lord is at your right hand. He will crush kings in the day of his wrath.
Who has directed Yahweh’s Spirit, or has taught him as his counselor?
Haven’t you known? Haven’t you heard? The everlasting God, Yahweh, the Creator of the ends of the earth, doesn’t faint. He isn’t weary. His understanding is unsearchable.
I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh, for as you presented your members as servants to uncleanness and to wickedness upon wickedness, even so now present your members as servants to righteousness for sanctification.
Brothers, speaking of human terms, though it is only a man’s covenant, yet when it has been confirmed, no one makes it void or adds to it.
making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he purposed in him
according to the eternal purpose which he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The king said, “What have I to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah? Because he curses, and because Yahweh has said to him, ‘Curse David;’ who then shall say, ‘Why have you done so?’ ”
Does God pervert justice? Or does the Almighty pervert righteousness?
Then the wrath of Elihu the son of Barachel, the Buzite, of the family of Ram, was kindled against Job. His wrath was kindled because he justified himself rather than God.
“Behold, God does all these things, twice, yes three times, with a man,
Should even one who hates justice govern? Will you condemn him who is righteous and mighty?—
to show that Yahweh is upright. He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.
Yahweh is righteous in all his ways, and gracious in all his works.
For God will bring every work into judgment, with every hidden thing, whether it is good, or whether it is evil.
and Yahweh has brought it, and done according as he spoke. Because you have sinned against Yahweh, and have not obeyed his voice, therefore this thing has come on you.
All the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing; and he does according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth; and no one can stop his hand, or ask him, “What are you doing?”
In that same hour Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit, and said, “I thank you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for so it was well-pleasing in your sight.”
But he said to him, “Man, who made me a judge or an arbitrator over you?”
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,
Therefore you are without excuse, O man, whoever you are who judge. For in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself. For you who judge practice the same things.
“For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he should instruct him?” But we have Christ’s mind.
Do I speak these things according to the ways of men? Or doesn’t the law also say the same thing?
who is a pledge of our inheritance, to the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of his glory.
but exhort one another day by day, so long as it is called “today”, lest any one of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
while it is said, “Today if you will hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts, as in the rebellion.”
Your gold and your silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be for a testimony against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up your treasure in the last days.
the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptation and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment,
But when Pharaoh saw that there was a respite, he hardened his heart, and didn’t listen to them, as Yahweh had spoken.
He also rebelled against king Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear by God; but he stiffened his neck, and hardened his heart against turning to Yahweh, the God of Israel.
In all this, Job didn’t sin, nor charge God with wrongdoing.
Behold, he snatches away. Who can hinder him? Who will ask him, ‘What are you doing?’
Is it good to you that you should oppress, that you should despise the work of your hands, and smile on the counsel of the wicked?
Behold, he will kill me. I have no hope. Nevertheless, I will maintain my ways before him.
“Therefore listen to me, you men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness, from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.
He who commits adultery with a woman is void of understanding. He who does it destroys his own soul.
He who is often rebuked and stiffens his neck will be destroyed suddenly, with no remedy.
“What do you mean, that you use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, ‘The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge’?
“Indeed they don’t know to do right,” says Yahweh, “Who hoard plunder and loot in their palaces.”
But according to your hardness and unrepentant heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath, revelation, and of the righteous judgment of God;
May it never be! Yes, let God be found true, but every man a liar. As it is written, “that you might be justified in your words, and might prevail when you come into judgment.”
What then will we say that Abraham, our forefather, has found according to the flesh?
What shall we say then? Is the law sin? May it never be! However, I wouldn’t have known sin, except through the law. For I wouldn’t have known coveting, unless the law had said, “You shall not covet.”
But indeed, O man, who are you to reply against God? Will the thing formed ask him who formed it, “Why did you make me like this?”
What if God, willing to show his wrath and to make his power known, endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction,
What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, who didn’t follow after righteousness, attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith;
“For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?”
Who are you who judge another’s servant? To his own lord he stands or falls. Yes, he will be made to stand, for God has power to make him stand.
We were also assigned an inheritance in him, having been foreordained according to the purpose of him who does all things after the counsel of his will,
Only one is the lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge another?
But the heavens that exist now and the earth, by the same word have been stored up for fire, being reserved against the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.
Angels who didn’t keep their first domain, but deserted their own dwelling place, he has kept in everlasting bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day.
I saw a great white throne, and him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. There was found no place for them.
Who put him in charge of the earth? Or who has appointed him over the whole world?
Will you even annul my judgment? Will you condemn me, that you may be justified?
There were many lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, yet not one of them was cleansed, except Naaman, the Syrian.”
But if our unrighteousness commends the righteousness of God, what will we say? Is God unrighteous who inflicts wrath? I speak like men do.
What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? May it never be!
