Judges 16:17
Hebrew Text— Judges 16:17He told her all his heart and said to her, “No razor has ever come on my head; for I have been a Nazirite to God from my mother’s womb. If I am shaved, then my strength will go from me and I will become weak, and be like any other man.”

A fool shows his annoyance the same day, but one who overlooks an insult is prudent.
“Everyone beware of his neighbor, and don’t trust in any brother; for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbor will go around like a slanderer.
Set a watch, Yahweh, before my mouth. Keep the door of my lips.
The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger. It is his glory to overlook an offense.
A fool vents all of his anger, but a wise man brings himself under control.
Therefore do what we tell you. We have four men who have taken a vow.
The Nazirite shall shave the head of his separation at the door of the Tent of Meeting, take the hair of the head of his separation, and put it on the fire which is under the sacrifice of peace offerings.
for, behold, you shall conceive and give birth to a son. No razor shall come on his head, for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb. He shall begin to save Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.”
She vowed a vow, and said, “Yahweh of Armies, if you will indeed look at the affliction of your servant and remember me, and not forget your servant, but will give to your servant a boy, then I will give him to Yahweh all the days of his life, and no razor shall come on his head.”
Every prudent man acts from knowledge, but a fool exposes folly.
Wisdom rests in the heart of one who has understanding, and is even made known in the inward part of fools.
“ ‘ “They shall not shave their heads, or allow their locks to grow long. They shall only cut off the hair of their heads.
Therefore a prudent person keeps silent in such a time, for it is an evil time.
Take them and purify yourself with them, and pay their expenses for them, that they may shave their heads. Then all will know that there is no truth in the things that they have been informed about you, but that you yourself also walk keeping the law.
I commend to you Phoebe, our sister, who is a servant of the assembly that is at Cenchreae,
“Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them, ‘When a man consecrates a person to Yahweh in a vow, according to your valuation,
“ ‘All the days of his vow of separation no razor shall come on his head, until the days are fulfilled in which he separates himself to Yahweh. He shall be holy. He shall let the locks of the hair of his head grow long.
So the Philistines were subdued, and they stopped coming within the border of Israel. Yahweh’s hand was against the Philistines all the days of Samuel.
But they didn’t listen, and Manasseh seduced them to do that which is evil more than the nations did whom Yahweh destroyed before the children of Israel.
Purify me with hyssop, and I will be clean. Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouth of fools gush out folly.
A fool has no delight in understanding, but only in revealing his own opinion.

Thus you shall separate the Levites from among the children of Israel, and the Levites shall be mine.
but he said to me, ‘Behold, you shall conceive and bear a son; and now drink no wine nor strong drink. Don’t eat any unclean thing, for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb to the day of his death.’ ”
He judged Israel twenty years in the days of the Philistines.
She made him sleep on her knees; and she called for a man and shaved off the seven locks of his head; and she began to afflict him, and his strength went from him.
Therefore I have also given him to Yahweh. As long as he lives he is given to Yahweh.” He worshiped Yahweh there.
Saul said to his uncle, “He told us plainly that the donkeys were found.” But concerning the matter of the kingdom, of which Samuel spoke, he didn’t tell him.
He sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, with a handsome face and good appearance. Yahweh said, “Arise! Anoint him, for this is he.”

When Saul had returned from following the Philistines, he was told, “Behold, David is in the wilderness of En Gedi.”
David said to Saul, “Why do you listen to men’s words, saying, ‘Behold, David seeks to harm you?’
When Joab kept watch on the city, he assigned Uriah to the place where he knew that valiant men were.

If a ruler listens to lies, all of his officials are wicked.
Her nobles were purer than snow. They were whiter than milk. They were more ruddy in body than rubies. Their polishing was like sapphire.
At the end of ten days, their faces appeared fairer, and they were fatter in flesh, than all the youths who ate of the king’s dainties.
covetings, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, and foolishness.

Paul, having stayed after this many more days, took his leave of the brothers, and sailed from there for Syria, together with Priscilla and Aquila. He shaved his head in Cenchreae, for he had a vow.
But when it was the good pleasure of God, who separated me from my mother’s womb and called me through his grace
Then I came to the regions of Syria and Cilicia.
who doesn’t need, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices daily, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. For he did this once for all, when he offered up himself.
