Hebrew Text— Leviticus 19:35“ ‘You shall do no unrighteousness in judgment, in measures of length, of weight, or of quantity.

“Don’t judge, so that you won’t be judged.
You shall not show partiality in judgment; you shall hear the small and the great alike. You shall not be afraid of the face of man, for the judgment is God’s. The case that is too hard for you, you shall bring to me, and I will hear it.”
Give ear, you heavens, and I will speak. Let the earth hear the words of my mouth.
Yahweh detests differing weights, and dishonest scales are not pleasing.
O earth, earth, earth, hear Yahweh’s word!
Hear, you peoples, all of you. Listen, O earth, and all that is therein: and let the Lord Yahweh be witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple.
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitened tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but inwardly are full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness.
He said to them, “Take heed what you hear. With whatever measure you measure, it will be measured to you, and more will be given to you who hear.
“If you lend money to any of my people with you who is poor, you shall not be to him as a creditor. You shall not charge him interest.
For all who do such things, all who do unrighteously, are an abomination to Yahweh your God.
Please don’t let me respect any man’s person, neither will I give flattering titles to any man.
“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
“Does our law judge a man, unless it first hears from him personally and knows what he does?”
My brothers, don’t hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ of glory with partiality.
You shall not pervert justice. You shall not show partiality. You shall not take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and perverts the words of the righteous.
Open your mouth, judge righteously, and serve justice to the poor and needy.”
Woe to you who destroy, but you weren’t destroyed, and who betray, but nobody betrayed you! When you have finished destroying, you will be destroyed; and when you have finished betrayal, you will be betrayed.
Therefore Yahweh says: “You have not listened to me, to proclaim liberty, every man to his brother, and every man to his neighbor. Behold, I proclaim to you a liberty,” says Yahweh, “to the sword, to the pestilence, and to the famine. I will make you be tossed back and forth among all the kingdoms of the earth.
You, son of man, prophesy to the mountains of Israel, and say, “You mountains of Israel, hear Yahweh’s word.
These are the things that you shall do: speak every man the truth with his neighbor. Execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates,
“Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be given to you. For with the same measure you measure it will be measured back to you.”
But if you show partiality, you commit sin, being convicted by the law as transgressors.
“Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God gives you.
You shall have just balances, just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin. I am Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt.
You shall not have in your bag diverse weights, one heavy and one light.
The Mighty One, God, Yahweh, speaks, and calls the earth from sunrise to sunset.
He calls to the heavens above, to the earth, that he may judge his people:
Yes, he loved cursing, and it came to him. He didn’t delight in blessing, and it was far from him.
These also are sayings of the wise. To show partiality in judgment is not good.
therefore, as I live,” says the Lord Yahweh, “I will do according to your anger, and according to your envy which you have shown out of your hatred against them; and I will make myself known among them when I judge you.
Or don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s Kingdom? Don’t be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals,
“You shall not follow a crowd to do evil. You shall not testify in court to side with a multitude to pervert justice.
“You shall not deny justice to your poor people in their lawsuits.
Take no interest from him or profit; but fear your God, that your brother may live among you.
I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that you will soon utterly perish from off the land which you go over the Jordan to possess it. You will not prolong your days on it, but will utterly be destroyed.
You shall keep his statutes and his commandments which I command you today, that it may go well with you and with your children after you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which Yahweh your God gives you for all time.
You shall have a perfect and just weight. You shall have a perfect and just measure, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God gives you.
‘Cursed is he who withholds justice from the foreigner, fatherless, and widow.’ All the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
Adoni-Bezek said, “Seventy kings, having their thumbs and their big toes cut off, scavenged under my table. As I have done, so God has done to me.” They brought him to Jerusalem, and he died there.
Then Samuel said to Saul, “Stay, and I will tell you what Yahweh said to me last night.” He said to him, “Say on.”
Samuel said, “As your sword has made women childless, so your mother will be childless among women!” Then Samuel cut Agag in pieces before Yahweh in Gilgal.
In the thirty-ninth year of his reign, Asa was diseased in his feet. His disease was exceedingly great: yet in his disease he didn’t seek Yahweh, but just the physicians.
Then I consulted with myself, and contended with the nobles and the rulers, and said to them, “You exact usury, everyone of his brother.” I held a great assembly against them.
he who doesn’t lend out his money for usury, nor take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be shaken.
“How long will you judge unjustly, and show partiality to the wicked?”
There are six things which Yahweh hates; yes, seven which are an abomination to him:
Lying lips are an abomination to Yahweh, but those who do the truth are his delight.
He who increases his wealth by excessive interest gathers it for one who has pity on the poor.
I was angry with my people. I profaned my inheritance and gave them into your hand. You showed them no mercy. You laid a very heavy yoke on the aged.
Hear, and give ear. Don’t be proud, for Yahweh has spoken.
has lent with interest, and has taken increase from the poor; shall he then live? He shall not live. He has done all these abominations. He shall surely die. His blood will be on him.
who has withdrawn his hand from the poor, who hasn’t received interest or increase, has executed my ordinances, has walked in my statutes; he shall not die for the iniquity of his father. He shall surely live.
In you have they taken bribes to shed blood. You have taken interest and increase, and you have greedily gained of your neighbors by oppression, and have forgotten me,” says the Lord Yahweh.
“ ‘ “But you, mountains of Israel, you shall shoot out your branches, and yield your fruit to my people Israel; for they are at hand to come.
Again he said to me, “Prophesy over these bones, and tell them, ‘You dry bones, hear Yahweh’s word.
“You shall have just balances, a just ephah, and a just bath.
A merchant has dishonest scales in his hand. He loves to defraud.
Saying, ‘When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell grain? And the Sabbath, that we may market wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel large, and dealing falsely with balances of deceit;
For the day of Yahweh is near all the nations! As you have done, it will be done to you. Your deeds will return upon your own head.
The mountains melt under him, and the valleys split apart, like wax before the fire, like waters that are poured down a steep place.
He answered them, “I tell you that if these were silent, the stones would cry out.”
Don’t judge according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment.”
For judgment is without mercy to him who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
These are murmurers and complainers, walking after their lusts—and their mouth speaks proud things—showing respect of persons to gain advantage.
Moreover you shall provide out of all the people able men which fear God: men of truth, hating unjust gain; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.
“ ‘You shall do no injustice in judgment. You shall not be partial to the poor, nor show favoritism to the great; but you shall judge your neighbor in righteousness.
You shall do that which is right and good in Yahweh’s sight, that it may be well with you and that you may go in and possess the good land which Yahweh swore to your fathers,
and that you may prolong your days in the land which Yahweh swore to your fathers to give to them and to their offspring, a land flowing with milk and honey.
Who is someone who desires life, and loves many days, that he may see good?
A false balance is an abomination to Yahweh, but accurate weights are his delight.
Honest balances and scales are Yahweh’s; all the weights in the bag are his work.
To be partial to the faces of the wicked is not good, nor to deprive the innocent of justice.
Differing weights and differing measures, both of them alike are an abomination to Yahweh.
he who hasn’t lent to them with interest, hasn’t taken any increase from them, who has withdrawn his hand from iniquity, has executed true justice between man and man,
Listen now to what Yahweh says: “Arise, plead your case before the mountains, and let the hills hear what you have to say.
For with whatever judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with whatever measure you measure, it will be measured to you.
Annas sent him bound to Caiaphas, the high priest.
Then Paul said to him, “God will strike you, you whitewashed wall! Do you sit to judge me according to the law, and command me to be struck contrary to the law?”
For, “He who would love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit.
