For my hand has made all these things, and so all these things came to be,” says Yahweh: “but I will look to this man, even to he who is poor and of a contrite spirit, and who trembles at my word.
Pride goes before destruction, and an arrogant spirit before a fall.
For the high and lofty One who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy, says: “I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also who is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite.
Whoever therefore humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Look at everyone who is proud, and humble him. Crush the wicked in their place.
who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers didn’t know, that he might humble you, and that he might prove you, to do you good at your latter end;
When they cast down, you will say, ‘be lifted up.’ He will save the humble person.
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.
Immediately an angel of the Lord struck him, because he didn’t give God the glory. Then he was eaten by worms and died.
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time,
The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom. The knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
Surely he mocks the mockers, but he gives grace to the humble.
For though Yahweh is high, yet he looks after the lowly; but he knows the proud from afar.
This is the end of the matter. All has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments; for this is the whole duty of man.
doing nothing through rivalry or through conceit, but in humility, each counting others better than himself;
So you will find favor, and good understanding in the sight of God and man.
Moses said to God, “Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?”
A fool has no delight in understanding, but only in revealing his own opinion.
Having therefore these promises, beloved, let’s cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples who shall hear all these statutes and say, “Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.”
Moreover as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against Yahweh in ceasing to pray for you: but I will instruct you in the good and the right way.
If not, listen to me. Hold your peace, and I will teach you wisdom.”
I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go. I will counsel you with my eye on you.
You who love Yahweh, hate evil! He preserves the souls of his saints. He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked.
Everyone who is proud in heart is an abomination to Yahweh: they shall certainly not be unpunished.
By mercy and truth iniquity is atoned for. By the fear of Yahweh men depart from evil.
Before destruction the heart of man is proud, but before honor is humility.
For I say through the grace that was given me, to every man who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think reasonably, as God has apportioned to each person a measure of faith.

Saul’s servants spoke those words in the ears of David. David said, “Does it seem to you a light thing to be the king’s son-in-law, since I am a poor man, and little known?”
Then David the king went in, and sat before Yahweh; and he said, “Who am I, Lord Yahweh, and what is my house, that you have brought me this far?
Come and hear, all you who fear God. I will declare what he has done for my soul.
The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of knowledge; but the foolish despise wisdom and instruction.
Don’t be wise in your own eyes. Fear Yahweh, and depart from evil.
Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain; but a woman who fears Yahweh, she shall be praised.
When pride comes, then comes shame, but with humility comes wisdom.
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he will exalt you.
Likewise, you younger ones, be subject to the elder. Yes, all of you clothe yourselves with humility, to subject yourselves to one another; for “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
She said, ‘Please let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves.’ So she came, and has continued even from the morning until now, except that she rested a little in the house.”
Then she said, “Let me find favor in your sight, my lord, because you have comforted me, and because you have spoken kindly to your servant, though I am not as one of your servants.”
A man’s pride brings him low, but one of lowly spirit gains honor.
For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.”
But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
David said to Saul, “Who am I, and what is my life, or my father’s family in Israel, that I should be son-in-law to the king?”
She arose, and bowed herself with her face to the earth, and said, “Behold, your servant is a servant to wash the feet of the servants of my lord.”
To man he said, ‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom. To depart from evil is understanding.’ ”
What man is he who fears Yahweh? He shall instruct him in the way that he shall choose.
Come, you children, listen to me. I will teach you the fear of Yahweh.
The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom. All those who do his work have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!
The fear of Yahweh is to hate evil. I hate pride, arrogance, the evil way, and the perverse mouth.
Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
“Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry, and feed you; or thirsty, and give you a drink?
But the report concerning him spread much more, and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities.
But when you are invited, go and sit in the lowest place, so that when he who invited you comes, he may tell you, ‘Friend, move up higher.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all who sit at the table with you.
I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.”
And being found in human form, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to the point of death, yes, the death of the cross.
