Hebrew Text— Proverbs 17:15He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the righteous, both of them alike are an abomination to Yahweh.

But Yahweh said to Samuel, “Don’t look on his face, or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for I don’t see as man sees. For man looks at the outward appearance, but Yahweh looks at the heart.”
Yahweh is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.
In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.
Honest balances and scales are Yahweh’s; all the weights in the bag are his work.
“ ‘You shall not go around as a slanderer among your people. “ ‘You shall not endanger the life of your neighbor. I am Yahweh.
I know also, my God, that you try the heart, and have pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of my heart I have willingly offered all these things. Now I have seen with joy your people, who are present here, offer willingly to you.
Differing weights and differing measures, both of them alike are an abomination to Yahweh.
Yahweh detests differing weights, and dishonest scales are not pleasing.
To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to Yahweh than sacrifice.
The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination— how much more, when he brings it with a wicked mind!
His delight will be in the fear of Yahweh. He will not judge by the sight of his eyes, neither decide by the hearing of his ears;
To what purpose does frankincense from Sheba come to me, and the sweet cane from a far country? Your burnt offerings are not acceptable, and your sacrifices are not pleasing to me.”
haven’t you shown partiality among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts?
Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective.
For all who do such things, all who do unrighteously, are an abomination to Yahweh your God.
He who turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.
Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
“For I, Yahweh, love justice. I hate robbery and iniquity. I will give them their reward in truth and I will make an everlasting covenant with them.
even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ to all and on all those who believe. For there is no distinction,
for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,
For every matter of trespass, whether it is for ox, for donkey, for sheep, for clothing, or for any kind of lost thing, about which one says, ‘This is mine,’ the cause of both parties shall come before God. He whom God condemns shall pay double to his neighbor.
“Keep far from a false charge, and don’t kill the innocent and righteous; for I will not justify the wicked.
keeping loving kindness for thousands, forgiving iniquity and disobedience and sin; and who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, and on the children’s children, on the third and on the fourth generation.”
“ ‘You shall do no injustice in judgment. You shall not be partial to the poor, nor show favoritism to the great; but you shall judge your neighbor in righteousness.
I commanded your judges at that time, saying, “Hear cases between your brothers and judge righteously between a man and his brother, and the foreigner who is living with him.
They change the night into day, saying ‘The light is near’ in the presence of darkness.
Yahweh is near to all those who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.
Also to punish the righteous is not good, nor to flog officials for their integrity.
These also are sayings of the wise. To show partiality in judgment is not good.
He who says to the wicked, “You are righteous,” peoples will curse him, and nations will abhor him—
To show partiality is not good; yet a man will do wrong for a piece of bread.
“What are the multitude of your sacrifices to me?”, says Yahweh. “I have had enough of the burnt offerings of rams and the fat of fed animals. I don’t delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs, or of male goats.
who acquit the guilty for a bribe, but deny justice for the innocent!
The soul who sins, he shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be on him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be on him.
They trample on the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and deny justice to the oppressed; and a man and his father use the same maiden, to profane my holy name;
God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”
You judge according to the flesh. I judge no one.
Do you look at things only as they appear in front of your face? If anyone trusts in himself that he is Christ’s, let him consider this again with himself, that even as he is Christ’s, so we also are Christ’s.
and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own, that which is of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith,
For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears open to their prayer; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”
“You shall not spread a false report. Don’t join your hand with the wicked to be a malicious witness.
“You shall take no bribe, for a bribe blinds those who have sight and perverts the words of the righteous.
You shall have just balances, just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin. I am Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt.
You shall not have in your bag diverse weights, one heavy and one light.
‘Cursed is he who takes a bribe to kill an innocent person.’ All the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
Yahweh rewarded me according to my righteousness. He rewarded me according to the cleanness of my hands.
‘Surely I have seen yesterday the blood of Naboth, and the blood of his sons,’ says Yahweh; ‘and I will repay you in this plot of ground,’ says Yahweh. Now therefore take and cast him onto the plot of ground, according to Yahweh’s word.”
It was so, when the days of their feasting had run their course, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said, “It may be that my sons have sinned, and renounced God in their hearts.” Job did so continually.
Hear, Yahweh, my righteous plea; Give ear to my prayer, that doesn’t go out of deceitful lips.
If I cherished sin in my heart, the Lord wouldn’t have listened.
They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.
When he is judged, let him come out guilty. Let his prayer be turned into sin.
People curse someone who withholds grain, but blessing will be on the head of him who sells it.
To be partial to the faces of the wicked is not good, nor to deprive the innocent of justice.
Guard your steps when you go to God’s house; for to draw near to listen is better than to give the sacrifice of fools, for they don’t know that they do evil.
to deprive the needy from justice, and to rob the poor among my people of their rights, that widows may be their plunder, and that they may make the fatherless their prey!
The fool will no longer be called noble, nor the scoundrel be highly respected.
He who kills an ox is as he who kills a man; he who sacrifices a lamb, as he who breaks a dog’s neck; he who offers an offering, as he who offers pig’s blood; he who burns frankincense, as he who blesses an idol. Yes, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delights in their abominations:
They make promises, swearing falsely in making covenants. Therefore judgment springs up like poisonous weeds in the furrows of the field.
I hate, I despise your feasts, and I can’t stand your solemn assemblies.
Don’t judge according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment.”
For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.”
For while we were yet weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.
Therefore putting away falsehood, speak truth each one with his neighbor. For we are members of one another.
“ ‘You shall not steal. “ ‘You shall not lie. “ ‘You shall not deceive one another.
You shall not pervert justice. You shall not show partiality. You shall not take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and perverts the words of the righteous.
If there is a controversy between men, and they come to judgment and the judges judge them, then they shall justify the righteous and condemn the wicked.
then hear from heaven, act, and judge your servants, bringing retribution to the wicked, to bring his way on his own head; and justifying the righteous, to give him according to his righteousness.
“How long will you judge unjustly, and show partiality to the wicked?”
“There are three things which are too amazing for me, four which I don’t understand:
“For three things the earth trembles, and under four, it can’t bear up:
My dove in the clefts of the rock, in the hiding places of the mountainside, let me see your face. let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet and your face is lovely.
A merchant has dishonest scales in his hand. He loves to defraud.
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,
Judah said, “What will we tell my lord? What will we speak? How will we clear ourselves? God has found out the iniquity of your servants. Behold, we are my lord’s slaves, both we and he also in whose hand the cup is found.”
He said, “Far be it from me that I should do so. The man in whose hand the cup is found, he will be my slave; but as for you, go up in peace to your father.”
then hear in heaven, and act, and judge your servants, condemning the wicked, to bring his way on his own head, and justifying the righteous, to give him according to his righteousness.
The two men, the wicked fellows, came in and sat before him. The wicked fellows testified against him, even against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, “Naboth cursed God and the king!” Then they carried him out of the city and stoned him to death with stones.
Far be it from me that I should justify you. Until I die I will not put away my integrity from me.
For the perverse is an abomination to Yahweh, but his friendship is with the upright.
There are six things which Yahweh hates; yes, seven which are an abomination to him:
The sacrifice made by the wicked is an abomination to Yahweh, but the prayer of the upright is his delight.
You who turn justice to wormwood, and cast down righteousness to the earth:
For I know how many your offenses, and how great are your sins— you who afflict the just, who take a bribe, and who turn away the needy in the courts.
Do horses run on the rocky crags? Does one plow there with oxen? But you have turned justice into poison, and the fruit of righteousness into bitterness;
Please listen to this, you heads of the house of Jacob, and rulers of the house of Israel, who abhor justice, and pervert all equity.
But if you had known what this means, ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,’ you wouldn’t have condemned the guiltless.
Pilate decreed that what they asked for should be done.
But to him who doesn’t work, but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness.
You have condemned and you have murdered the righteous one. He doesn’t resist you.
A false balance is an abomination to Yahweh, but accurate weights are his delight.
