He will cover you with his feathers. Under his wings you will take refuge. His faithfulness is your shield and rampart.
Yahweh, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, says to him whom man despises, to him whom the nation abhors, to a servant of rulers: “Kings shall see and rise up, princes, and they shall worship, because of Yahweh who is faithful, even the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.”
Yet it pleased Yahweh to bruise him. He has caused him to suffer. When you make his soul an offering for sin, he will see his offspring. He will prolong his days and Yahweh’s pleasure will prosper in his hand.
But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised by the people.
Be merciful to me, Lord, for I call to you all day long.
Come, my people, enter into your rooms, and shut your doors behind you. Hide yourself for a little moment, until the indignation is past.
I gave my back to those who beat me, and my cheeks to those who plucked off the hair. I didn’t hide my face from shame and spitting.
Now you shall gather yourself in troops, daughter of troops. He has laid siege against us. They will strike the judge of Israel with a rod on the cheek.
For whoever will be ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed, when he comes in his glory, and the glory of the Father, and of the holy angels.
May Yahweh repay your work, and a full reward be given to you from Yahweh, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge.”
They have gaped on me with their mouth. They have struck me on the cheek reproachfully. They gather themselves together against me.
Those who know your name will put their trust in you, for you, Yahweh, have not forsaken those who seek you.
Keep me as the apple of your eye. Hide me under the shadow of your wings,
I can count all of my bones. They look and stare at me.
For in the day of trouble, he will keep me secretly in his pavilion. In the secret place of his tabernacle, he will hide me. He will lift me up on a rock.
How precious is your loving kindness, God! The children of men take refuge under the shadow of your wings.
Have mercy on me, God, according to your loving kindness. According to the multitude of your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions.
Be merciful to me, God, for man wants to swallow me up. All day long, he attacks and oppresses me.
For you have been my help. I will rejoice in the shadow of your wings.
“Behold, my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen, in whom my soul delights: I have put my Spirit on him. He will bring justice to the nations.
Seek Yahweh, all you humble of the land, who have kept his ordinances. Seek righteousness. Seek humility. It may be that you will be hidden in the day of Yahweh’s anger.
They braided a crown of thorns and put it on his head, and a reed in his right hand; and they kneeled down before him, and mocked him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!”
He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here, and watch.”
The ones who had been sent were from the Pharisees.
He left that place, and dug another well. They didn’t argue over that one. He called it Rehoboth. He said, “For now Yahweh has made room for us, and we will be fruitful in the land.”
Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near, and struck Micaiah on the cheek, and said, “Which way did Yahweh’s Spirit go from me to speak to you?”
Yes, he would have allured you out of distress, into a wide place, where there is no restriction. That which is set on your table would be full of fatness.
Give sincere homage to the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish on the way, for his wrath will soon be kindled. Blessed are all those who take refuge in him.
Arise, Yahweh! Save me, my God! For you have struck all of my enemies on the cheek bone. You have broken the teeth of the wicked.
But I trust in your loving kindness. My heart rejoices in your salvation.
I have called on you, for you will answer me, God. Turn your ear to me. Hear my speech.
Do you indeed speak righteousness, silent ones? Do you judge blamelessly, you sons of men?
Deliver me from my enemies, my God. Set me on high from those who rise up against me.
Hear my cry, God. Listen to my prayer.
I will dwell in your tent forever. I will take refuge in the shelter of your wings.
In Judah, God is known. His name is great in Israel.
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
Because you have made Yahweh your refuge, and the Most High your dwelling place,
Turn my heart toward your statutes, not toward selfish gain.
Those who trust in Yahweh are as Mount Zion, which can’t be moved, but remains forever.
For the ruthless is brought to nothing, and the scoffer ceases, and all those who are alert to do evil are cut off—
Who among you fears Yahweh and obeys the voice of his servant? He who walks in darkness and has no light, let him trust in Yahweh’s name, and rely on his God.
Surely he has borne our sickness and carried our suffering; yet we considered him plagued, struck by God, and afflicted.
In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell safely. This is his name by which he will be called: Yahweh our righteousness.
Yahweh, the Lord, is my strength. He makes my feet like deer’s feet, and enables me to go in high places. For the music director, on my stringed instruments.
I cut off the three shepherds in one month; for my soul was weary of them, and their soul also loathed me.
But I tell you, don’t resist him who is evil; but whoever strikes you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.
“Behold, my servant whom I have chosen; my beloved in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my Spirit on him. He will proclaim justice to the nations.
“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets, and stones those who are sent to her! How often I would have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you would not!
Unless those days had been shortened, no flesh would have been saved. But for the sake of the chosen ones, those days will be shortened.
and said, “This man said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.’ ”
Then they spat in his face and beat him with their fists, and some slapped him,
He said to them, “Elijah indeed comes first, and restores all things. How is it written about the Son of Man, that he should suffer many things and be despised?
To him who strikes you on the cheek, offer also the other; and from him who takes away your cloak, don’t withhold your coat also.
who devour widows’ houses, and for a pretense make long prayers: these will receive greater condemnation.”
One of the criminals who was hanged insulted him, saying, “If you are the Christ, save yourself and us!”
The soldiers twisted thorns into a crown, and put it on his head, and dressed him in a purple garment.
For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
without natural affection, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, not lovers of good,
He, in the days of his flesh, having offered up prayers and petitions with strong crying and tears to him who was able to save him from death, and having been heard for his godly fear,
looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
coming to him, a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God, precious.
Because it is contained in Scripture, “Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, chosen and precious: He who believes in him will not be disappointed.”
I told him, “My lord, you know.” He said to me, “These are those who came out of the great suffering.They washed their robes, and made them white in the Lamb’s blood.
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; neither will there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more. The first things have passed away.”
Those who dwell in my house and my maids consider me a stranger. I am an alien in their sight.
Answer me when I call, God of my righteousness. Give me relief from my distress. Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.
My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from helping me, and from the words of my groaning?
Turn to me, and have mercy on me, for I am desolate and afflicted.
My heart overflows with a noble theme. I recite my verses for the king. My tongue is like the pen of a skillful writer.
Be merciful to me, God, be merciful to me, for my soul takes refuge in you. Yes, in the shadow of your wings, I will take refuge, until disaster has passed.
May God be merciful to us, bless us, and cause his face to shine on us.
We give thanks to you, God. We give thanks, for your Name is near. Men tell about your wondrous works.
Yahweh, truly I am your servant. I am your servant, the son of your servant girl. You have freed me from my chains.
Turn to me, and have mercy on me, as you always do to those who love your name.
I cry with my voice to Yahweh. With my voice, I ask Yahweh for mercy.
He was despised and rejected by men, a man of suffering and acquainted with disease. He was despised as one from whom men hide their face; and we didn’t respect him.
Let him give his cheek to him who strikes him. Let him be filled full of reproach.
The Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they scoffed at him.
The people stood watching. The rulers with them also scoffed at him, saying, “He saved others. Let him save himself, if this is the Christ of God, his chosen one!”
