They open their mouths wide against me, lions tearing prey and roaring.
He has brought on them their own iniquity, and will cut them off in their own wickedness. Yahweh, our God, will cut them off.
Yes, they opened their mouth wide against me. They said, “Aha! Aha! Our eye has seen it!”
An evil speaker won’t be established in the earth. Evil will hunt the violent man to overthrow him.
But these two things will come to you in a moment in one day, the loss of children and widowhood. They will come on you in their full measure, in the multitude of your sorceries, and the great abundance of your enchantments.
All your enemies have opened their mouth wide against you. They hiss and gnash their teeth. They say, “We have swallowed her up. Certainly this is the day that we looked for. We have found it. We have seen it.”
“Woe to him who gives his neighbor drink, pouring your inflaming wine until they are drunk, so that you may gaze at their naked bodies!
Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brothers outside.
May all my enemies be ashamed and dismayed. They shall turn back, they shall be disgraced suddenly.
Don’t let them say in their heart, “Aha! That’s the way we want it!” Don’t let them say, “We have swallowed him up!”
Let them be turned because of their shame who say, “Aha! Aha!”
then they would have swallowed us up alive, when their wrath was kindled against us;
Debate your case with your neighbor, and don’t betray the confidence of another,
“The eye that mocks at his father, and scorns obedience to his mother: the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, the young eagles shall eat it.
Whom do you mock? Against whom do you make a wide mouth and stick out your tongue? Aren’t you children of disobedience and offspring of falsehood,
and all the kings of Tyre, all the kings of Sidon, and the kings of the isle which is beyond the sea;
The Lord Yahweh says: ‘Because the enemy has said against you, “Aha!” and, “The ancient high places are ours in possession!” ’
“Yes, and what are you to me, Tyre, and Sidon, and all the regions of Philistia? Will you repay me? And if you repay me, I will swiftly and speedily return your repayment on your own head.
For Yahweh of Armies says: ‘For honor he has sent me to the nations which plundered you; for he who touches you touches the apple of his eye.
“If your brother sins against you, go, show him his fault between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained back your brother.
doesn’t rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;
Brothers, even if a man is caught in some fault, you who are spiritual must restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; looking to yourself so that you also aren’t tempted.
The enemy said, ‘I will pursue. I will overtake. I will divide the plunder. My desire will be satisfied on them. I will draw my sword. My hand will destroy them.’
Yahweh had said to Moses, “Tell the children of Israel, ‘You are a stiff-necked people. If I were to go up among you for one moment, I would consume you. Therefore now take off your jewelry from you, that I may know what to do to you.’ ”
When they went into the Tent of Meeting, and when they came near to the altar, they washed, as Yahweh commanded Moses.
I also will do this to you: I will appoint terror over you, even consumption and fever, that shall consume the eyes, and make the soul to pine away. You will sow your seed in vain, for your enemies will eat it.
“Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment!”
He offered the tribute to Eglon king of Moab. Now Eglon was a very fat man.

It was so, when the days of their feasting had run their course, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said, “It may be that my sons have sinned, and renounced God in their hearts.” Job did so continually.
A sound of terrors is in his ears. In prosperity the destroyer will come on him.
Terrors will make him afraid on every side, and will chase him at his heels.
that the triumphing of the wicked is short, the joy of the godless but for a moment?
He draws it out, and it comes out of his body. Yes, the glittering point comes out of his liver. Terrors are on him.
Their houses are safe from fear, neither is the rod of God upon them.
They are exalted; yet a little while, and they are gone. Yes, they are brought low, they are taken out of the way as all others, and are cut off as the tops of the ears of grain.
In a moment they die, even at midnight. The people are shaken and pass away. The mighty are taken away without a hand.
As often as the trumpet sounds he snorts, ‘Aha!’ He smells the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting.
lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed against him;” lest my adversaries rejoice when I fall.
Don’t deliver me over to the desire of my adversaries, for false witnesses have risen up against me, such as breathe out cruelty.
Don’t draw me away with the wicked, with the workers of iniquity who speak peace with their neighbors, but mischief is in their hearts.
Evil shall kill the wicked. Those who hate the righteous shall be condemned.
By this I know that you delight in me, because my enemy doesn’t triumph over me.
For he has delivered me out of all trouble. My eye has seen triumph over my enemies.
Be merciful to me, God, for man wants to swallow me up. All day long, he attacks and oppresses me.
He will send from heaven, and save me, he rebukes the one who is pursuing me. God will send out his loving kindness and his truth.
Before your pots can feel the heat of the thorns, he will sweep away the green and the burning alike.
But God will shoot at them. They will be suddenly struck down with an arrow.
How they are suddenly destroyed! They are completely swept away with terrors.
They said in their heart, “We will crush them completely.” They have burned up all the places in the land where God was worshiped.
Yahweh, don’t grant the desires of the wicked. Don’t let their evil plans succeed, or they will become proud.
Let’s swallow them up alive like Sheol, and whole, like those who go down into the pit.
Don’t be afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it comes;
The wicked flee when no one pursues; but the righteous are as bold as a lion.
The Syrians in front, and the Philistines behind; and they will devour Israel with open mouth. For all this, his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
For he has said, “By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I have understanding. I have removed the boundaries of the peoples, and have robbed their treasures. Like a valiant man I have brought down their rulers.
Therefore disaster will come on you. You won’t know when it dawns. Mischief will fall on you. You won’t be able to put it away. Desolation will come on you suddenly, which you don’t understand.
For Yahweh says, ‘Behold, I will make you a terror to yourself and to all your friends. They will fall by the sword of their enemies, and your eyes will see it. I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will carry them captive to Babylon, and will kill them with the sword.
Tell the children of Ammon, ‘Hear the word of the Lord Yahweh! The Lord Yahweh says, “Because you said, ‘Aha!’ against my sanctuary, when it was profaned; and against the land of Israel, when it was made desolate; and against the house of Judah, when they went into captivity:
“Son of man, because Tyre has said against Jerusalem, ‘Aha! She is broken! She who was the gateway of the peoples has been returned to me. I will be replenished, now that she is laid waste;’
therefore prophesy, and say, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “Because, even because they have made you desolate, and swallowed you up on every side, that you might be a possession to the residue of the nations, and you are taken up in the lips of talkers, and the evil report of the people;”
Then the king’s face was changed in him, and his thoughts troubled him; and the joints of his thighs were loosened, and his knees struck one against another.
He trusts in God. Let God deliver him now, if he wants him; for he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’ ”
But there were some of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,
Immediately Jesus, perceiving in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, said to them, “Why do you reason these things in your hearts?
The devil, leading him up on a high mountain, showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by him; and he was very perplexed, because it was said by some that John had risen from the dead,
“But God said to him, ‘You foolish one, tonight your soul is required of you. The things which you have prepared—whose will they be?’
The men who held Jesus mocked him and beat him.
Now this man obtained a field with the reward for his wickedness, and falling headlong, his body burst open, and all his intestines gushed out.
him, being delivered up by the determined counsel and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by the hand of lawless men, crucified and killed;
in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we will be changed.
But when this perishable body will have become imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then what is written will happen: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”
Knowing therefore the fear of the Lord, we persuade men, but we are revealed to God, and I hope that we are revealed also in your consciences.
For when they are saying, “Peace and safety,” then sudden destruction will come on them, like birth pains on a pregnant woman. Then they will in no way escape.
and might deliver all of them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
standing far away for the fear of her torment, saying, ‘Woe, woe, the great city, Babylon, the strong city! For your judgment has come in one hour.’
