How much less man, who is a worm, the son of man, who is a worm!”
Then they spat in his face and beat him with their fists, and some slapped him,

Put in the sickle; for the harvest is ripe. Come, tread, for the wine press is full, the vats overflow, for their wickedness is great.”

Yahweh said to Moses, “If her father had but spit in her face, shouldn’t she be ashamed seven days? Let her be shut up outside of the camp seven days, and after that she shall be brought in again.”
How could one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them, and Yahweh had delivered them up?
He also brought me out into a large place. He delivered me, because he delighted in me.
Palal the son of Uzai made repairs opposite the turning of the wall, and the tower that stands out from the upper house of the king, which is by the court of the guard. After him Pedaiah the son of Parosh made repairs.
But he stands alone, and who can oppose him? What his soul desires, even that he does.
He brought me out also into a large place. He delivered me, because he delighted in me.
Because of all my adversaries I have become utterly contemptible to my neighbors, a horror to my acquaintances. Those who saw me on the street fled from me.
My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my plague. My kinsmen stand far away.
I have become a stranger to my brothers, an alien to my mother’s children.
I will lay the key of David’s house on his shoulder. He will open, and no one will shut. He will shut, and no one will open.
Don’t be afraid, you worm Jacob, and you men of Israel. I will help you,” says Yahweh. “Your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel.

Because I was not cut off before the darkness, neither did he cover the thick darkness from my face.
Turn to me, and have mercy on me, for I am desolate and afflicted.
Through God we will do valiantly, for it is he who will tread down our adversaries.
Reproach has broken my heart, and I am full of heaviness. I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; for comforters, but I found none.
The kings of Tarshish and of the islands will bring tribute. The kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts.
I remember God, and I groan. I complain, and my spirit is overwhelmed.
I am small and despised. I don’t forget your precepts.
When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, you knew my route. On the path in which I walk, they have hidden a snare for me.
The rich man’s wealth is his strong city. The destruction of the poor is their poverty.
Wealth adds many friends, but the poor is separated from his friend.
Consider the work of God, for who can make that straight, which he has made crooked?
Yahweh, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel says: “I am Yahweh your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you by the way that you should go.
There is no one to guide her among all the sons to whom she has given birth; and there is no one who takes her by the hand among all the sons who she has brought up.
He put on righteousness as a breastplate, and a helmet of salvation on his head. He put on garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a mantle.
“So Hanamel my uncle’s son came to me in the court of the guard according to Yahweh’s word, and said to me, ‘Please buy my field that is in Anathoth, which is in the land of Benjamin; for the right of inheritance is yours, and the redemption is yours. Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying, “I am restricted. I can’t go into Yahweh’s house.
Then they took Jeremiah and threw him into the dungeon of Malchijah the king’s son, that was in the court of the guard. They let down Jeremiah with cords. In the dungeon there was no water, but mire; and Jeremiah sank in the mire.
He has walled up my ways with cut stone. He has made my paths crooked.
I will make you a bare rock. You will be a place for the spreading of nets. You will be built no more; for I Yahweh have spoken it,’ says the Lord Yahweh.
My sheep wandered through all the mountains, and on every high hill. Yes, my sheep were scattered on all the surface of the earth. There was no one who searched or sought.”
even as the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
The sick man answered him, “Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, but while I’m coming, another steps down before me.”
No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
If he passes by, or confines, or convenes a court, then who can oppose him?
But the eyes of the wicked will fail. They will have no way to flee. Their hope will be the giving up of the spirit.”
Why do you say, Jacob, and speak, Israel, “My way is hidden from Yahweh, and the justice due me is disregarded by my God?”
Yahweh, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, says to him whom man despises, to him whom the nation abhors, to a servant of rulers: “Kings shall see and rise up, princes, and they shall worship, because of Yahweh who is faithful, even the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.”
Now at that time the king of Babylon’s army was besieging Jerusalem. Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the court of the guard, which was in the king of Judah’s house.
He has walled me about, so that I can’t go out. He has made my chain heavy.
I cut off the three shepherds in one month; for my soul was weary of them, and their soul also loathed me.
But all this has happened that the Scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples left him and fled.
and they took him, and threw him into the pit. The pit was empty. There was no water in it.
Why is light given to a man whose way is hidden, whom God has hedged in?
Behold, he breaks down, and it can’t be built again. He imprisons a man, and there can be no release.
He has walled up my way so that I can’t pass, and has set darkness in my paths.
They abhor me, they stand aloof from me, and don’t hesitate to spit in my face.
But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised by the people.
You have not shut me up into the hand of the enemy. You have set my feet in a large place.
You have put lover and friend far from me, and my friends into darkness.
Look on my right, and see; for there is no one who is concerned for me. Refuge has fled from me. No one cares for my soul.
Therefore my spirit is overwhelmed within me. My heart within me is desolate.
All the relatives of the poor shun him: how much more do his friends avoid him! He pursues them with pleas, but they are gone.
“I have trodden the wine press alone. Of the peoples, no one was with me. Yes, I trod them in my anger and trampled them in my wrath. Their lifeblood is sprinkled on my garments, and I have stained all my clothing.
Now the chief priests and the Pharisees had commanded that if anyone knew where he was, he should report it, that they might seize him.
