Hebrew Text— Psalms 10:18to judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that man who is of the earth may terrify no more.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
He executes justice for the fatherless and widow and loves the foreigner in giving him food and clothing.
By the breath of God they perish. By the blast of his anger are they consumed.
Examine me, Yahweh, and prove me. Try my heart and my mind.
You are my hiding place. You will preserve me from trouble. You will surround me with songs of deliverance.
Yahweh’s name is a strong tower: the righteous run to him, and are safe.
for Yahweh will plead their case, and plunder the life of those who plunder them.
If you see the oppression of the poor, and the violent taking away of justice and righteousness in a district, don’t marvel at the matter, for one official is eyed by a higher one, and there are officials over them.
He will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.”
For what will it profit a man, if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his life? Or what will a man give in exchange for his life?
“But woe to you who are rich! For you have received your consolation.
For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and is able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
But Yahweh said to Samuel, “Don’t look on his face, or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for I don’t see as man sees. For man looks at the outward appearance, but Yahweh looks at the heart.”
Behold, they have there with them their two sons, Ahimaaz, Zadok’s son, and Jonathan, Abiathar’s son. Send to me everything that you shall hear by them.”
God is my rock in whom I take refuge; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge. My savior, you save me from violence.
Then the Levitical priests arose and blessed the people. Their voice was heard, and their prayer came up to his holy habitation, even to heaven.
But the salvation of the righteous is from Yahweh. He is their stronghold in the time of trouble.
Oh, my Strength, I watch for you, for God is my high tower.
God sets the lonely in families. He brings out the prisoners with singing, but the rebellious dwell in a sun-scorched land.
Yahweh executes righteous acts, and justice for all who are oppressed.
If only you, God, would kill the wicked. Get away from me, you bloodthirsty men!
a man to whom God gives riches, wealth, and honor, so that he lacks nothing for his soul of all that he desires, yet God gives him no power to eat of it, but an alien eats it. This is vanity, and it is an evil disease.
His breath is as an overflowing stream that reaches even to the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of destruction. A bridle that leads to ruin will be in the jaws of the peoples.
He has made my mouth like a sharp sword. He has hidden me in the shadow of his hand. He has made me a polished shaft. He has kept me close in his quiver.
The Lord Yahweh’s Spirit is on me, because Yahweh has anointed me to preach good news to the humble. He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and release to those who are bound,
But, Yahweh of Armies, who judges righteously, who tests the heart and the mind, I will see your vengeance on them; for to you I have revealed my cause.
Leave your fatherless children. I will preserve them alive. Let your widows trust in me.”
Assyria can’t save us. We won’t ride on horses; neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, ‘Our gods!’ for in you the fatherless finds mercy.”
Don’t be deceived. God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.
Then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will kill with the breath of his mouth, and destroy by the manifestation of his coming;
Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
I will kill her children with Death, and all the assemblies will know that I am he who searches the minds and hearts. I will give to each one of you according to your deeds.
Out of his mouth proceeds a sharp, double-edged sword, that with it he should strike the nations. He will rule them with an iron rod. He treads the wine press of the fierceness of the wrath of God, the Almighty.
“ ‘You shall not oppress your neighbor, nor rob him. “ ‘The wages of a hired servant shall not remain with you all night until the morning.
You shall not wrong one another, but you shall fear your God; for I am Yahweh your God.
You, Solomon my son, know the God of your father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind; for Yahweh searches all hearts, and understands all the imaginations of the thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will cast you off forever.
“By reason of the multitude of oppressions they cry out. They cry for help by reason of the arm of the mighty.
You shall break them with a rod of iron. You shall dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.”
For the needy shall not always be forgotten, nor the hope of the poor perish forever.
Break the arm of the wicked. As for the evil man, seek out his wickedness until you find none.
You frustrate the plan of the poor, because Yahweh is his refuge.
Don’t draw me away with the wicked, with the workers of iniquity who speak peace with their neighbors, but mischief is in their hearts.
A man’s steps are established by Yahweh. He delights in his way.
Yahweh of Armies is with us. The God of Jacob is our refuge.
Consume them in wrath. Consume them, and they will be no more. Let them know that God rules in Jacob, to the ends of the earth.
For he will deliver the needy when he cries; the poor, who has no helper.
“Defend the weak, the poor, and the fatherless. Maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed.
For he satisfies the longing soul. He fills the hungry soul with good.
Bring my soul out of prison, that I may give thanks to your name. The righteous will surround me, for you will be good to me.
Yahweh preserves the foreigners. He upholds the fatherless and widow, but he turns the way of the wicked upside down.
He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for his Maker, but he who is kind to the needy honors him.
We have been with child. We have been in pain. We gave birth, it seems, only to wind. We have not worked any deliverance in the earth; neither have the inhabitants of the world fallen.
“Now I will arise,” says Yahweh. “Now I will lift myself up. Now I will be exalted.
But Yahweh of Armies, who tests the righteous, who sees the heart and the mind, let me see your vengeance on them, for I have revealed my cause to you.
He judged the cause of the poor and needy; so it was well, then. Wasn’t this to know me?” says Yahweh.
Be silent, all flesh, before Yahweh; for he has roused himself from his holy habitation!”
“His lord commended the dishonest manager because he had done wisely, for the children of this world are, in their own generation, wiser than the children of the light.
There is no creature that is hidden from his sight, but all things are naked and laid open before the eyes of him to whom we must give an account.
Don’t love the world or the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the Father’s love isn’t in him.
They put away the foreign gods from among them and served Yahweh; and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.
Behold, the Cushite came. The Cushite said, “News for my lord the king, for Yahweh has avenged you today of all those who rose up against you.”
But I have built you a house and home, a place for you to dwell in forever.”
But he saves from the sword of their mouth, even the needy from the hand of the mighty.
Yet he filled their houses with good things, but the counsel of the wicked is far from me.
Yahweh will also be a high tower for the oppressed; a high tower in times of trouble.
from men by your hand, Yahweh, from men of the world, whose portion is in this life. You fill the belly of your cherished ones. Your sons have plenty, and they store up wealth for their children.
From the place of his habitation he looks out on all the inhabitants of the earth,
This poor man cried, and Yahweh heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.
For Yahweh loves justice, and doesn’t forsake his saints. They are preserved forever, but the children of the wicked shall be cut off.
but he will judge the poor with righteousness, and decide with equity for the humble of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; and with the breath of his lips he will kill the wicked.
They have grown fat. They shine; yes, they excel in deeds of wickedness. They don’t plead the cause, the cause of the fatherless, that they may prosper; and they don’t defend the rights of the needy.
He said to them, “You are from beneath. I am from above. You are of this world. I am not of this world.
If you were of the world, the world would love its own. But because you are not of the world, since I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.
I have given them your word. The world hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
For this cause I also suffer these things. Yet I am not ashamed, for I know him whom I have believed, and I am persuaded that he is able to guard that which I have committed to him against that day.
Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you have kept back by fraud, cry out, and the cries of those who reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Armies.
who by the power of God are guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you.
“If a man strikes his servant’s eye, or his maid’s eye, and destroys it, he shall let him go free for his eye’s sake.
“ ‘If you sell anything to your neighbor, or buy from your neighbor, you shall not wrong one another.
Then Ahimaaz the son of Zadok said, “Let me now run and carry the king news, how Yahweh has avenged him of his enemies.”
For he has oppressed and forsaken the poor. He has violently taken away a house, and he will not build it up.
Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, but establish the righteous; their minds and hearts are searched by the righteous God.
But you do see trouble and grief. You consider it to take it into your hand. You help the victim and the fatherless.
“Because of the oppression of the weak and because of the groaning of the needy, I will now arise,” says Yahweh; “I will set him in safety from those who malign him.”
You will keep them, Yahweh. You will preserve them from this generation forever.
How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart every day? How long shall my enemy triumph over me?
A father of the fatherless, and a defender of the widows, is God in his holy habitation.
He will judge the poor of the people. He will save the children of the needy, and will break the oppressor in pieces.
Don’t let the oppressed return ashamed. Let the poor and needy praise your name.
who executes justice for the oppressed; who gives food to the hungry. Yahweh frees the prisoners.
“But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that you, in your lifetime, received your good things, and Lazarus, in the same way, bad things. But here he is now comforted, and you are in anguish.
